What is your opinion on Warmog's Armor as a very late game item on Soraka? I once knew someone who would buy it very late game to stick around longer and heal. Personally, I probably wouldn't get it but I think it could work as a player's choice for some.

Hey AbaddonSoulchain!

I don't think there's any other way around it other than getting it late game to be honest. As it's fairly difficult to get to the 3k HP THRESHold (haHAA I did it again!) on Soraka. They changed it from 3k to 2.75k back to 3k, so it used to be easier at 2.75k (being able to get it earlier). But getting the item without having 3k HP is really bad.

But since we're on the subject of these tank items and of recent changes, aka Nexus Blitz hitting live servers. We've all noticed the return of some old items to the game mode. From what I've understood it's suppose to become an actual game mode that stays forever (similar to ARAM/Summoner's Rift). And who knows if something like that may lead to return of the old items to SR. I remember building Force of Nature alot back in Season 1, I would build it on Soraka too when against heavy AP comps, and I can say, it worked like a charm ;) and is much better than Warmog's for Soraka.

So who knows, we'll see what happens :P

I tested this build and my performance with Soraka helping the team was awesome. Even in early I was healing a very good amount of HP.
Thank you a lot, keep doing this :)

Hello, you said do not buy tank items but what about warmogs?

Hey Niheox,

I've had this question asked before in the discussion section, my thoughts are still the same:

"Personally I've never been fan of Warmog's on Soraka because of how the W hp % sacrifice works, but I always say, if it fits your playstyle go for it. It's true that Soraka isn't a damage dealer, although she does get higher hp regen back by having more ap, aswell as gain your Athene's stacks quicker.

I will mention that Warmog's is a pretty busted item right now (when playing correctly around it's regen passive), also do keep in mind that as your hp sustain will be massive right now, you'll be spamming alot more W, consuming loads of mana (I've seen people hit zero mana before and they can't do anything anymore). Therefore Archangel is quite the must."

Basically I wouldn't recommend it, the current build will give you much more utility and stronger heals to keep allies alive. Plus Athene's helps you deal with heavy burst whereas if you're building Warmog's you won't be able to deal with the burst damage on your allies that well.

Hope that helps you out :)

Hi! First, I have to say this is one of the best crafted guides I have seen here, excellent work!
I have a couple of question:
1) in the alternative build you use the Ancient Coin tree even if it's not mentioned anywhere in the guide. Is it a mistake or is it just so situational that you didn't write about it? If it's the last one, when should I buy coin instead of edge?
2) In one of my last games, my ADC "crashed" and stayed afk for 30 minutes. At that point I didn't know what to do, building normally would have taken ages and maybe I wouldn't have been as much usefull. One of my friend auggested me to go full AP, instead I've gone a more utility build (seraph first for... rengar reasons, shadows, crucible and shurelia). Do you think it was a good idea? Should have I continued with the support build?

Hey Chromuro,

Thank you so much <3 That's very kind of you.

1. I don't mention Ancient Coin in the items chapter because it's an alternative I personally never use. I think Ancient Coin is okay for newer Soraka players because it's a safer pick, granting more health regen and movement speed. Spellthief's Edge is in my opinion superior in current patch, as long as you stay active in lane and proc your Tribute passive consistently you'll benefit more from Spellthief's. It is also the reason I put Mikael's as an alternative because it's the safer counterpart of Athene's, giving you more passive health regen (Mikael's) vs (Athene's) staying active with great heals to counter burst damage from opponents.

2. I would be building the same items (Frostfang, Lucidity, Ardent, Athene's, Rabadon's, Archangel) because the items synergize very well with Soraka. I do understand that if your adc is not in lane you can't take advantage of the healing power on the items, however you still have 3 other allies on your team that will take advantage of it. Which means you mainly focus on adapting the playstyle rather than the build. And yes, Rengar may be annoying to deal with but I wouldn't be rushing Archangel over Ardent and Athene's but rather focus on positioning/map control: staying near teammates/towers, being safe around bushes/checking bushes with Q, have wards around places you're sieging.

In terms of playstyle, here's what you can do: if your adc isn't connected you'll be the main player to farm cs in bottom lane. I would personally prioritize the AP pieces of the items, for example when building Ardent Censer I'd prioritize Aether Wisp over Forbidden Idol and Fiendish Codex over Chalice when building Athene's. My main focus would be the tower to take as less damage as possible, while trying to cs as best as I can, poking enemies under my own tower when they try to siege and avoid as much poke damage as possible. During that 1v2 time your team definitely has to make progress and get advantages, if they're struggling or they don't the game is simply over. If they do end up with advantages they will eventually show up bottom lane trying to flank the constantly pushed in bottom lane that you're defending. And that's when you got to make it work or else time is wasted. Winning some fights to pressure the lanes and take towers. Note: roaming is a possibility but will usually lead to no one defending bottom and can cause more losses than gains. If you notice the enemy jungler is camping bottom lane trying to bully you being alone I would definitely roam because there's nothing you can do 1v3 even with a tower.

Most games are balanced out in a way that each team is almost equally good in terms of players, especially in ranked (maybe not so much in normals). Meaning that if someone dc's or doesn't connect at all the game will heavily be in favor for the enemy team (the game does not account for players dc'ing). Not to mention that most games end in like 20-30mins. I don't know if they got back after 30mins or not but stalling for 30mins for someone to come back is not a win condition, however if they do get back catch up xp is very good, however they'll still be behind in items.

I don't know if you've ever practiced champions in custom mode (alone) vs 5 intermediate bots but it's a fun way to learn new champions (especially melee damage dealing champions), especially when choosing legit comps like Darius/Shen/Lux/Tristana/Alistar (very heavy cc, enough damage to get killed by, engage and disengage). It will test your limits and decision making with that specific champion. You will quickly notice that the game actually becomes unwinnable the longer it goes on.

You really need to be stomping your opponents from the beginning as a team. Every death and/or mistake made where you get chunked and have to reset, stalls the game out longer. You always wanna be hard focusing towers to get to inhibs as fast as you can, usually you have to win some fights before starting to siege. Pushing lanes/outrotating is very important in 4v5's.

I think that's enough for a reply for now :P time to head to bed! Hope that helps you out!

Thank you for the detailed answer!

Unfortunately we had a rough matchup, a Dark Harvest+lethality MF and an electro bard, so we both had to stay reaaally far away, even more when I was alone since a critted MF Q could delete 3/4 of my health. This means that I couldn't hit Starcall reliably, sometimes I hit them with Equinox to trigger the tribute, but obviously it wasn't enough. Luckily they started roaming really early, bot first tower was still up so I could push the wave and then go help my teammates.

About archangel I noticed too late that it was useless since by the time I had stacked it rengo could eat through my shield and life. About sticking with my team, well... that cat wanted my life and nothing else, he was just ulting me and then dying. He was a strange rengo.

About the custom game, I never thought about it, thank you for the tip!

Phenomenal guide, one of the best ones I've seen. As a new player I take a lot of time to read through guides and this one was by far one of the best builds Ive seen for her. I adjusted my build to match and got an S first game with it. Awesome. :) Thanks so much.

Hey Ilift13,

Thank you so much :3 I appreciate the kind words alot <3

Taking some time to read up on stuff definitely is favorable compared to let's say someone playing a champion for the first time without knowing what the champ does :P

I'm very glad you're doing well :D

Soraka isn't really my cup of tea as she's too squishy but I have tried your guide, I think it works wonders. If I ever play Soraka again, I will use it for certain... that is, if I can keep myself from making stupid mistakes.

Hey AbaddonSoulchain,

Everyone has their own SOUL mate (haHAA see what I did there *sigh*) in terms of favorite champ. I'm glad it worked for you c:

If you're trying to improve/fix your mistakes the best way is to check your own replays, you don't have to always review all of it. It's very nice if you can recognize the mistake and think of what you could've done differently while you're playing the game, so don't go autopilot too much if you're too lazy to look at replays XD And then 'simply' apply what you need to do differently in future games.

Hope that helps you out :D

Cheers for the quality pun, mate, I like all puns (especially terrible ones) so it's good for me. Well, what I meant is that I generally prefer tanky supports than squishy AP supports but with supporting being me main role after jungling, I have tried everything more than once. Your guide will surely be my go-to for future Soraka games, I just need to remember that I'm playing Soraka, not Leona, so getting pulled by a Blitzcrank is a lot worse. I'll need some time to fix that.

Thanks for the guide! What should my main focus be in lane early/mid game? Should I poke enemies or not? Should I try to last hit mobs for extra gold? How do you deal with the money shortage? Also: Do you typically pocket heal one person or do you run through jungle to assist other lanes as needed? I'm not sure what my overall gameplay should be with Soraka.

Hey Jailbroken,

You're welcome and thanks for the support <3

You're basically asking me how to play league of legends on x champion. It can take quite a while to understand the game fully. For me to tell you how to play league in one msg is impossible, even explaining someone all the ins and outs in one day will not make someone instantly a godlike player, simply because of the fact that one cannot instantly apply all of that info immediately the next game. It takes tons of games to get to that point.

Most important: knowledge is power, league is a team based game, league is a action/strategy based game with the Nexus being your objective.

Having these three things in mind and working on them will make you do things better, it's more valuable than the answer below in my opinion.

To answer your questions though:

Winning laning phase, getting ahead, have vision of the map. Yes, you should poke enemies as much as you can to get ahead, certain matchups are unfavorable though. CSing as support is avoided, it's only good to do in certain situations. Proc Tribute as much as you can, it's an important part of your gold income. Roaming is part of the game, there's more than one lane in the game. So basically, poke, heal, vision for objectives.

Hope that helps you out :3

I love it! It really helped me out! I have a problem, though. I can't find Seraph's embrace on the current version of the game. Could you give any suggestion, please?

Hey agusjacob96,

Thank you so much c: I'm glad I could help. Seraph's Embrace as mentioned under item section transforms from Archangel's Staff ^.^ You usually won't find yourself often getting that late into a game but if you do I build Lost Chapter first in my 6th item slot.

Hope that clears things up, cya around <3

HI!
I just have a couple of questions... In the items section at the beginning of the guide, you have Eye of the Watchers OR Eye of Ascension (you can't have both anyways) but it states in the active of both items that you can only have 3 wards in place at a time. But when you go to the ward section, it states the placement of up to 6 wards in place at the same time? is that just recommended places to place the wards when you are available? Or is that for likely places to ward? Thanks so much! I love your guides!

[-]
SwelteringMuffin (18) | July 15, 2018 4:48pm
Hey IamIncreative,

Thank you for you support <3 You can indeed only have 3 wards and 1 control ward placed at a time. In the ward section I recommend some places that are good to place your stealth/control wards when doing certain objectives.

So for example when you do Baron whilst being on blue side you should put wards behind the Baron pit and throughout the river. Being on red side you want to place them in the river and top side enemy jungle. :)

Hope that clears it up ^.^ Cya around

Hello Muffin,
I have a question... how do you counter against an assassin like Zed from oneshotting squishies with his Death Mark ??? (is it even possible ?)
Are some items such as Warmog's Armor and Redemption good to be able to outheal the Death Mark or other corruption abilities ???
1
[-]
SwelteringMuffin (18) | June 29, 2018 10:50am
Hey gameboyAdv,

Warmog's doesn't help you with saving allies from burst damage. Redemption can, but Athene's is much better at doing this. Warmog's won't help yourself either since it gives you no Armor. You simply need to stay a certain distance from Zed at all times, based on how many teammates you have near you, you can get slightly closer to him.

You have a few options to counter Zed as Soraka if he does ult you. After he's out of his ult you can flash away to dodge his Q's or if you don't have flash (you shouldn't get that close near him in that case) you can drop your silence E right underneath you, that way he cannot use his abilities and can only auto attack you.

There's two ways you can drop your silence right as he gets out of the ult so he doesn't see it coming and spams his abilities when he can't or perfectly time it so that once he gets out he gets immediately rooted and you have a some time to run away.

Also use your Q right after the E to get some movement speed and health regen, and if necessarily you ult yourself. You can also exhaust him after he gets out of his ult if you think you can't survive with your ult.

Hope that helps out :D
