Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Welcome to Talon - The AD Burst Carry
Talon is one of the funnest champions that Riot has made in quite some time, in my opinion. He's really unique and has so much potential for a player to make use of. One of the key things that I want to establish early, is that Talon is NOT an auto attack champ, so do NOT focus on building attack speed!!! Talon is an AD champ who deals large amounts of damage through his spells, NOT his auto attacks. Keeping that in mind, we are ready to delve into Talon.
Runes and Masteries
Talon is an attack damage champion, hence you want to maximize the amount of damage he can deal. With that goal in mind, we choose marks and quints of desolation to allow him to penetrate his enemies' armor to deal more damage. Because Talon deals the most of his damage via abilities and NOT by auto attacks, we want glyphs of focus to reduce his cool-downs so that he can use those abilities in quicker succession. As for seals, I prefer Resilience for more armor, but if you'd like, other options are viable as well, though I do recommend armor seals.
Masteries are again focusing on maximizing damage output, so we put 21 in the Offense tree. Talon has quite a large damage output and his abilities scale pretty strongly, so we can get a big advantage by being able to level up faster than our opponents to grab that amazingly useful ult and to increase the damage those abilities do. Hence, we put 9 in the Utility tree making sure to put 4 on the Awareness mastery. If you are playing correctly with this mastery set, you should find that quite often you will be one of the first if not the very first player to reach level 18.
Ghost and Flash are the best choices for Talon. They are both great tools for both his offensive initiations and for escaping from tight situations and ganks. Talon's ult lets him turn invisible immediately for a short period of time. If you activate your ghost spell before going invisible, it allows your stealthed movement to be even more effective as an escape tool. Ghost also allows Talon to chase and burst down escaping enemies by using his e skill. Comboing Talons ult to a flash (or vice versa) is also a great escape tactic. Further, Flash is also a great tool for jumping into position to use your burst and combo especially in ganks.
Doran's blade is best for the early game. The damage output is great for Talon and the small amount of lifesteal it provides gives Talon just that extra bit of survivability in lane to keep him going without having to leave too often (though you will likely find in the early game that you need to return to base pretty frequently).
Boots of Mobility will be the boots you have in the end of the game. Talon's ability to escape from danger and to chase down enemies is already amazing, however by bringing in the extra movement of these boots compared to that of other boots, you will be a constant threat all over the map as well as nearly unkillable if you are safe when you extend and have your spells (ghost and flash) and ult available. I can not tell you how many times I have escaped from 3, 4, or even 5 v 1 situations thanks to these boots, those spells, and that ult.
The Brutalizer is a key item for Talon and you should build it as quickly as possible. The cooldown reduction it provides gives you a much stronger presence both in lanes and in smaller team fights at the beginning. Rush this item.
Upgrade that Brutalizer to Youmuu's quickly too. The cooldown reduction increases and the active ability of Youmuu's is great to throw in with your offensive and evasive games.
Next, you want to grab and Infinity Edge. The extra
