Hey :) Thanks for answering !

All my questions were purely a matter of theory, since i haven't tried your build in game yet (well, i've started to play recently, and i do want to finish my shen's and ashe's runes. Then i might consider that another bookrunes for Sivir could be fun :p), so i've no doubt what you wrote here is logical and effective. I'm just a huge fan of theorycrafting :p

1. What i mean when i said crit was non-optimal for Sivir is that your late-game damages are mostly done by your autoshots, and your rico. Since your rico can't crit, the passive effect from IE is mostly wasted. Well, it IS useful, but 1) only when you use some of your abilities 2) only when thoses abilities crit. Plus Crits, even with a huge amount, aren't always reliable.
Assuming you're aiming for a ton of damage in team fight from mid to late game (or hitting tower, anyway, anything but chasing champ in order to 1v1 :D), you will want to be effective at it. So you will want to maximize your auto&rico damages.

Considering :
"Ricochet's bounces deal Physical damage.
- Bounces' damage are calculated independently from previous bounces.
- Only 3 factors affect the bounces' damage: your AD, the armor (after armor pen) of the unit it hits (only the current unit), and the number of the bounce ( bounce #1 damage is multiplied by 0.78, bounce #2 damage is multiplied by 0.78^2 etc..)
- bounces do not proc on hit effects, cannot crit, cannot be dodged*, and cannot hit the same target twice."
(from : http://leaguecraft.com/strategies/guide/2990-ricochet-s-mechanics.xhtml)

Then, what do we have ? Pure AD and / or Arpen (i don't mention Life Steal because it's an "on-hit" effect and doesn't work on rico's bounces).
Which kind of item could be effective with thoses stats ?
- Another BT ? Compared to an IE, it'll be a gain of 20 AD against a lose of 20 CRIT and IE's passive.
- Last Whisper ? Well, it's a great item, since its passive isn't an "on-hit" effect, and it helps A LOT to DPS high armored champ (tanks, off tank, ****** champ -who said Garen ?-), even if it's not your main role. That's what i would pick.

On a side note, i'll have to do math, because LW takes off 40% of your opponent's armor (it's not always the same amount) before you apply your own arpen. This, plus the arpen given by the masteries, and the arpen given by your runes can sometimes (often ? I don't know, i have to calculate the whole thing :p) be too much. Ofc, if you decide to play with LW, you won't need your Black Cleaver, so here's another question : wich item should be taken here (but anyway, i doubt you're often able to complete this build).

I'll do some math, and i'll tell you about it. Maybe i'm wrong.

2) Concerning mana, i don't feel like you can count only on spell shield. Because sometimes, you won't be the target of the opponent's spell, or you'll be only hitting minions while the other champ will only be last hitting and / or killing your minions while you're pushing, etc... Sivir is a huge mana*****, so... Maybe a manamune will help (and will provide some more damages too), but then you'll lose your guinsoo's. Maybe you can use some mana reg. runes (a fortiori if you're taking off some ARP, cf 1) ), so you won't lose too much damages by picking a mana reg. item (plus, Manamune is kinda slow to "load", and you can't afford the 40th minute to do some damage).

3) Yeah, you're probably right. I wasn't thinking of 1v1 situations btw (where life steal isn't that efficient for sivir, since you're more like ... hitting and running), but i guess you can play without (as i said before, i've started to play like ... 10 days ago, so i still have some bad habbits, like always playing w/ at least a vampiric scepter 'till i got my BT, just in case... :p)

Well, i'm glad i made you think again about a few things. Maybe i'm wrong, i don't know yet, but hey, can thoughts hurt ? ;)
I'm also happy that you managed to understand what i wanted to say. I'm doing my best, but i sometimes know that my english isn't correct at all :p

PS : I didn't mention AS when i wrote about maximizing Rico's dps, because it's an additive stat (well, AS + your ulti AS is good, but it has a diminish return. Multiplicative stats would be better, but you already know that). Just wanted it to be clarified

Edit : Another thing i wanted to mention is that 21st point in your Offensive Tree. Those 5% only improve your base dmg. It doesn't count all your +AD or +AP. So it's such a minor damage boost i don't think it even worth it. Maybe you could swap the point from Havoc to Awareness -4/4- ? It's still a up for your dps, though...

Edit 2 : Do you record your games sometimes ? I'd be interested in watching how you deal with your build. Either stream or rec, i don't care, but maybe we could make an arrangement ?

1. I picked up the crit due to the fact that you don't really lose much by picking it up. For example, I consider trinity force a must which automatically gives 12%, Ghost-blade is a great item thats like a small ult which gives armor pen which is the MAIN reason why i got it, but it also gives crit, then I figured i might as well since i have all this crit lying around. If you have a suggestion if something I could grab instead of crit by all means go ahead, but it seems like all I could get is life-steal, and not much of it ( Blood-thirster instead of Infinity Edge) which imo would hurt my DPS because i already have decent crit from other items. I could swap out Infinity edge and Ghost-blade with Stark's and Blood thirster, but again thats un-needed attack speed, unless you drop Guinsoo's and... Yeah time to add a third build. Also remember that your auto-shots are your main damage and the odds that your ricochets are going to be used on everyone and not hit minions in the way or just be out of range isn't the best.

2. I normally use spell shield as my primary means of returning mana, you could always swap out guinsoo's with a manamune if you need mana.

3. I agree that laning/farming is a major part of sivir's gameplay and life-steal would make yourself even more effective, but honestly even when you do tank minions, they die in a round of BB, and life-steal is ineffective late-game since 1v1 situations rarely occur and it wont save you when your the target of several people, and it would be difficult to get life-steal early game considering your rushing a sheen. Then getting boots and Trinity Force would take priority over it.

Thanks for the post, You've made me look at some items with questions and caused a revise to this build. And your English seems far better then what I see in games lol.
Post again if you have more questions/concerns.

Hi there.

First of all, thanks for making a guide on Sivir. It was pretty interesting.

Nevertheless, I've got a few questions.

1) Your "main" build (the crit one, i mean, considering the AS one is... well, it doesn't stacks well with your ulti) is based on crit. Or, we know that ricochet's ticks can't crit. Isn't it a big dps lose in teamfight to spend so much gold to get some crit ? I mean, you'll only crit w/ BB and autoshots, so...

2) How's your mana going ? I'm used to play with a Chalice. In this build, you don't have any manaregen mastery, nor runes. The only "mana friendly" item you've got is Sheen, then Trinity.

3) In your 1st item build, you don't have any kind of life steal, or vampiric spell. Don't you feel like you're forced to back for regen too often ? I'm used to play with Stark's, and it's a great tool for staying "in" the game longer. You swap lanes, "tank" minions to prevent yours from being hurt, and can still be efficient as if you were just coming back from the base.

Those are the main questions i wanted to ask.

Btw, thanks again for the post, and, please, forgive my bad english :)

I use trinity force for the passive effect, since your using boomerang whenever its off CD and spell shield often, it adds a lot of damage. I use hextech because the use gives a great slow and a decent amount of damage, and it comes with stats i already like, AP / AD.

Why trinity force or Gunblade?

Thanks, I was thinking of doing that because the only reason I was using Ghostblade was for the on use. I'll try it out this game. Thanks. =)

Edit: Good idea posted some new info.
