Runes Are so he can hit to heal and mana regen for Laning. It is to support the Maximum you can spend in the lane.

Masteries are for a tanky DPS. It to make Durable in the lane and keep your there longer.

Items

Items are to make him durable and Attack to heal. Life steal is always useful to a DPs champion even though he already has life steal but it is not as affective as heal every time you hit.

Skills

Skills are so he can stay alive. The skill set up i have chosen is main to keep the opposing champions down and back at the healing portal and to take out towers fast and to heal more efficiently especially with his second ability.
