My main lane is the TOP, my secondary lane is the MID, I became main TOP in season 5 and main Nasus in pre-season 7.

< MY RUNES >

For my Runes I like to go for Resolve and Precisison taking as the Keystone, unfortunately doesn't have any fantastic keystone choices, is just the best of the bad.

You should be able to proc relatively easily in melee matchups with [Q] and the bonus max health synergizes well with your [W] .

WHY GRASP OF THE UNDYING
Grasp of the Undying: Unfortunately Garen doesn't have any fantastic keystone choices, Grasp of the Undying is just the best of the bad.

You should be able to proc Grasp of the Undying relatively easily in melee matchups with [Q] Decisive Strike and the bonus max health synergizes well with your [W] Courage.

WHY DEMOLISH
Demolish: Demolish on Garen allows you to massively chunk towers when combined with the empowered auto from [Q] Decisive Strike.

WHY CONDITIONING
Conditioning: Conditioning allows you to scale into the mid game as a very threatening tank.

Strong AD Matchups: If playing into a strong AD matchup like Renekton or Camille, take Bone Plating.

Strong AP Matchups: If playing into a strong AP matchup like Rumble, take Second Wind.

WHY UNFLINCHING
Unflinching: The bonus tenacity and slow resistance will help you overcome Garen's biggest pitfall of getting kited by CC and slows.

With Unflinching you should be able to stick to your target for the kill much more easily.

WHY TRIUMPH
Triumph: Triumph on Garen allows you to absorb a lot of frontline damage by picking up kills/assists during teamfights.

WHY COUP DE GRACE
Coup de Grace: Coup de Grace's damage amplification synergizes well with Garen's execute oriented [R] Demacian Justice for that last little bit of kill potential.

SUMMONER SPELLS
-

FLASH: Flash is a great pick since it's a very solid escape and can be great to close a gap if you're getting kited.

IGNITE: Ignite on the other hand can add a lot of kill pressure in top lane and can sometimes be the difference in getting you to snowball in lane.

TELEPORT: Teleport is my favorite since you're a pretty solid split pusher and you'll be able to sit in a side lane and still be able to make it to team fights or objectives when you're needed.

Tips Playing as Garen

✦ Garen's [PASSIVE] Perseverance regeneration greatly increases if he can avoid receiving damage for several seconds.

✦ [E] Judgment deals maximum damage when only hitting a single target. For effective trading, try to position such that only the enemy champion is hit.

✦ Garen is only constrained by cooldowns, making items such as Black Cleaver or Trinity Force very effective for him.

✦ If LeBlanc or Shaco are marked as Villains, your entire team can see the mark above the real champion when they use their Mirror Image clone Hallucinate abilities.
