Runic Blade (PASSIVE)
Riven Passive Ability
Introduction
Riven is the latest champion to grace the League. Her skills are meant for close encounters and this is the way you should play her. She is a great chain-disrupt champion with the ability to knock people in the air (1st skill 3-chain) and also stun for 0.5 seconds (2nd skill). Like a lot of AD heroes, her abilities scale with critical strike - most similarly in comparison to Garen's (Judgment) i've found. Her passive stacks dmg up to a maximum of 3 charges each time u cast a spell so timing and keeping these charges up make her a serious threat; it is because of this that not much damage items are needed on her. Her ultimate further adds damage and can deal aoe wave damage to heroes running away.
Pros
1. Broken blade spiritually made whole.
2. Probably the hottest exile around.
3. Fun as hell to play thanks to her chaining.
4. Can start a team fight well.
5. Mobile; can close quarters with 3rd skill.
6. Good early-game bursts.
7. Low cooldowns.
8. 15 sec ultimate makes her a range melee ^^
9. Requires no mana or energy!
Cons
1. No real means to escape CC.
2. Damage lacks toward late-game.
3. Damage scales rather poorly with items.
4. She has a broken blade.
5. Requires a good laning partner.
6. Armor counters her pretty well.
7. Broken wings does not apply on-hit effects.
The runes i have chosen are for early-game sustainability with slight damage output. Swap them around as you like but Riven is played better with defensive and tanky in mind. You can make her a low-cd burst champ or more tanky and sustainable.
I always like dodge runes. Very useful all game long.

You can choose to go 1st 2nd 3rd but if you are laning with a good partner you might not need the 3rd skill to go in or away when engaging your opponent. 1st skill can dish out quite an amount of damage and is a great tool for farming creeps.
Broken wings is your bread and butter skill but i kinda felt maxing Valor second was better than Ki Burst. Of course if you rather take a more offensive route then by all means go Ki Burst second but the stun stays at 0.5 secs.

Exhaust and heal. Pretty self-explanatory. You're going to be playing Riven somewhat like a Rambo. Going in and out. Chasing down your enemies. Trying to chain the hell out of them.
You could swap heal for something else like Ghost or Flash but i like heal more. Swap the heal mastery out for ghost if you go ghost. Heal can make people over-commit and allow you or your team to land a killing blow.
