Master Yi Build
Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Disclaimer: This is my first guide, and I'm not the most discriptive person, so if you have any questions please feel free to ask them.
I like to play Yi because he is one of the most consistent champions if played right. Yi doesn't rely on ganks for gold, because he can farm like a monster.
I chose crit runes, because I feel they add the most damage early game. The mana regen is because a Yi without mana, can't do much (most of the time).
I start off with a zeal and zerker's, because the one thing that sets Yi apart from the others is his movement speed. It's also why I chose ghost. Once you hit 6, you will be able to chase down any champion (unless it's a yi with faster boots and ghost).
I don't like to get any lifesteal until after the IE, because you just don't put out enough damage to get a noticeable amount of health back. Later in the game, you will be able to keep yourself alive through pretty much anything other than complete focus.
Early game (lvl 1-6):
You want to lane with a tankier champion so that you can last hit while he draws fire. It might be a little hard to last hit at level 1, but as soon as you hit two it gets drastically easier because of wuju style and your crit runes.
One of the great things about Yi is that he can harass from miles away using Alpha Strike. A surefire way to hit an enemy champion with it, is to wait until there are 2 or 3 enemy minions left and just AS one of the minions.
Once you get enough gold for both berserker's greaves and zeal, recall and get them.
Mid Game (lvl 7-13):
At this point you should be able to pump out some damage, and can play a bit more aggressive. You should be constantly killing minions and neutral creeps for gold. Don't sit in the bushes waiting for a gank, because you are more than likely wasting your time.
You may be tempted to go into team fights, but that's not your job yet. Just stay in the emptiest lane and farm minions, and if possible, destroy towers.
A cool thing about Yi, is you don't really need to get a BFS first while building your IE. He already gets a hefty amount of AD from Wuju Style. I usually go for the cloak first, then the pickaxe. After that I wait until I have enough for an IE and a vampiric scepter. Once you have these items, you can start going into team fights.
NEVER INITIATE TEAM FIGHTS. You will get focused and deadified. Come in about mid way and clean up the mess. Always go for the squishiest champion first.
Late Game (14+):
You still want to be farming or pushing towers if there's no ganking going on. This build is not a cheap one, and standing around waiting for a fight certainly won't make that gold for you.
There's not much more I can add. Again, feel free to ask questions or tell me anything I left out. I love constructive criticism! Please don't rate down without an explanation!
