Ban him. If you haven't seen him cast windwall, you can't ult. If he has cast windwall, you have to hold onto your ult until you have a clear shot. Note, you CAN catch him with ult as he's ulting, just don't be the one getting hit and you'll be fine. Similar to Katarina, you'll want to prioritize autoing and comboing him instead of ulting him.
Malphite
As a faster level six initiator, Malphite can make your life a living hell. Aim to get him low through early trades, and if you're not ahead in levels around level six, hide under turret. As an immobile support, you're his highest priority target. (Unless you have a kogmaw, and if you do you've already made a mistake). Beyond landing phase, you'll be looking to just flat out counter his engages and picks on allies after he goes in with ult. Aim for his backup, not him.
Kindred
You know the drill. You ult. Kindred ults. You lose. Try to treat this similar to the Katarina matchup, where you're trying to deal enough damage to force them to panic and ult a little early. Otherwise, do not engage, because Kindred can outrun you for days, and hunt you down for days. You should note that Kindred's ult may stop their team from dying, but it doesn't stop any of the other effects of your ultimate. Don't be afraid to ult kindred in the face if you see a good spot to place your ult in a teamfight.
Shaco
Shaco isn't that dangerous. His clone and boxes are. If you lose sight of him, assume at all times that he's behind you with his full kit off cooldown and electrocute ready to obliterate you. Avoid any chasing and wait out his ultimate. If you get really desperate, you can try purposely ulting his ult to force him to not stay in the radius, but that's extremely situational.
Zed
Zed is similar to Katarina, but with the benefit of being able to ult you and dodge any initiation you attempt on reaction. Fun! Treat him the same, holding your ult until he commits all of his cooldowns, and autoing and combing him instead.
Katarina
Katarina is another threat you cannot safely fight until she attempts to go in during a teamfight. Her multiple resets during fights make her too slippery to snipe with an ult, so prioritize autoing her to stack blight, and hitting her with uncharged q and e for reliable damage instead.
Blitzcrank
Don't get hooked. As an off-brand support, you flat out cannot survive most cases of you getting hooked. Similar to Malphite, you don't want to aim directly at him, rather you want to ult his allies that are reacting to him hooking one of your teamates.
Sivir
Sivir is a hazard, but managable since her e only prevents you from counterinitiating without the element of surprise, or outside of a teamfight. Your ultimate is the perfect check to her ulting at the start of a teamfight, but like many of the other cases, since she has protection from your ultimate, you're going to want to ult behind\next to her, toward her teammates to force them to back off or force them into an uncomfortable position.
Morgana
I'm not sure why neither team banned her in draft phase, but if you're stuck in a matchup against an experienced morgana, you'll have to treat the lane the same as if you were facing a Sivir. If the black shield hasn't been cast, and you can see Morgana, don't ult. Ever. If you see a Morgana AND a Sivir, just dodge and save yourself the time. Each on their own is manageable, both together is a direct counterpick to this build.
Tristana
Tristana will remind you that you're just a weak adc, and you should never disrespect your betters. Specifically her. She will kill you outright in almost any duel pre-six, and any duel after level six, you'll only win because she messed up something, or you got to ult her midjump. Remember that she's easily baited and punished by your ult with her slow travel speed with her jump, and punish her landing accordingly. Overwise, rely on burst trading with her with your adc at every opportunity (trading aggro refers to backing off when you've been targeted too long, and coming back after more of your cooldowns are up). Respect her all-in range, and try to hug turret if you get behind or pushed in.
Zyra
Do not try to do more than poke Zyra from a distance. She does way too much damage for way too long in the match for you to even look at her funny and not get taken out back to be made into fertilizer. If you absolutely must fight her, kill her plants immediately as they spawn with an e and uncharged q. This is risky. Don't get ulted doing this or you'll probably die.
Yuumi
A strangely easy matchup as long as she's not on a Master Yi. Your ult is just as effective since your burst damage is percent max health instead of flat, preventing her from healing her ally fast enough in mid game. Don't respect her level six. Immediately try to find a chance to ult their duo so you can burst them down alongside your adc. This same rule applies to most enchantress matchups, though it's extremely apparent with Yuumi.
Amumu
Should you find yourself blessed with the presence of a capable Amumu player, praise the Ascended for an easy combo. Try to ult right after Amumu since your ult effects synergize extremely well.
Miss Fortune
Godlike synergy. If you can convince your adc to play this you've won midgame and possibly lategame. While your ult doesn't perfectly synergize with Miss Fortune's, the absolutely ridiculous amount of pressure you two can apply to a teamfight is disgusting and totally abuseable. Focus on poking and surviving the early game, then stick with her for as much of the midgame as you can, since you provide the two things she doesn't have: Tank killing and hard cc.
Ashe
A great duo. She has a slow on everything, a stun for an ultimate, provides vision safely for bottom lane, and can set up for or combo off of literally any of your crowd control. Be careful however, because you'll both be vulnerable to assassins during teamfights, and Ashe doesn't tend to output quite as much damage as some of the other duos listed here.
Aphelios
Note: Same as Ashe, but only during gravitum. Aphel also has a moderately better ultimate for teamfights than Ashe, and more survivability.
Xayah
This is an odd lane. You and Xayah both struggle pre level 3, but scale amazingly into the midgame when it comes to teamfighting and counterinitiating. Should either of you land a pick, the other can chain their cc, similar to the Jhin duo. However, Xayah can hit multiple champions and set up for a perfect ultimate for you during teamfight, and also requires only minor peel from you to stay alive. A very good duo, if a little weak early in the match.
Jhin
Similar to Caitlyn, except Jhin easily sets up roots for you to freely ult an enemy for easy picks, and high early damage trades. You cover the same weaknesses for him as you do Caitlyn.
Caitlyn
A little better than most adcs. Caitlyn benefits slightly from the extra kill power of a second adc in the early landing phase. Are you useful and helpful beyond that? No. But you do cover her weakness of being almost entirely single target for mid and late-game teamfights, and shatter tank's healthbars lategame, which she also can struggle to do. Not an optimal duo, but you can manage if you're good enough.
Jinx
This is the category of most Adcs when working with this build. Since it takes awhile to scale in impact, and is designed to maximize teamfight presence, you'll struggle to do more than the bare minimum in lane before level six, and struggle to do at least average until the teamfight phase.
Twitch
Same a Kog'maw, except for the minor advantage of being able to help you bait and ambush enemies easily due to his camouflage. This rat may have come from the sewers, but you'll be eating sh!t if you try and run this build along-side him.
Kog'Maw
Please do not pick this with my cute little void monster. He simply doesn't benefit in any way from Varus's kit, and cannot survive the early levels safely enough on his own.
Ezreal
... Just don't. There's no point in this duo. You don't have enough damage to consider it, and you two won't work together well unless you're both just that godlike at skillshots.
Lucian
Similar to Caitlyn, but he actually just doesn't need your help if he knows what he's doing.
Vayne
No.
Kai'Sa
Teamfight support meets skirmish adc. This duo doesn't really work either.
Thresh
As glorious as this build is, it really doesn't work well with varus either.
Senna
This is a support? This is an adc? This is exactly the same as the Caitlyn Duo. Expect to be able to go a little more ham, and need to ward a lot more carefully to prevent dying since both of you are poor at peeling.
Karthus
No stop. Put that down. I don't care if Karthus's w almost guarantees Varus ult and reduces magic res of targets hit.
Akshan
Please don't. Even if he's good, just don't waste your time trying to play Varus with this independent young man.
