Malphite
All champions with a good engage tool are very viable for play with Orianna due to the Ball delivery into the enemy's backline. It doesn't have to be Malphite - Leona, Nautilus, Maokai etc. all work well!

Champion Build Guide
Hey, my name is KruzerZ.
I'm the midlaner for Havoc Esports in the Telia Esports Series Denmark.
Orianna has been my most played champion since Season 7. I have around 2800+ games on her and currently 2.000.000 mastery points. I’m currently in Masters and have peaked Grandmaster in S10. I’m a former Rank 1 Orianna and a well known main.

I recommend you go for a "cheater recall" every game after you hard push the third wave. You can achieve that when you trade within the minions with your opponent at Levels 1-2, because naturally the wave you’ve built up will be pushed into the enemy once reinforcements arrive.
To ensure this, it’s important that you have more minions than your opponent has at Level 2.
After the recall you’d be running back to lane with a better wave position, and your opponent has to either burn his Teleport or lose Gold and Experience. The wave will also be in a position where your opponent will be vulnerable to ganks.
You have the advantage to help your jungler with scuttle crab contests by having more HP, Mana and item advantage.
Try to communicate with your jungler to gank you when your wave is in a good position to do so.
Although I recommend "cheater recalling", there’s some few matchups you shouldn’t do it against, such as Vel'Koz, Zed, Irelia, any champions who have an easy time to hard push the 3rd and the 4th wave quickly with their Abilities. This may force you either to lose Teleport or Gold and Experience.
Keep trying to invest in yourself as much as possible with gold and XP, so you can hit the 2 item powerspike as fast as possible. It’s fine to be on the sidelanes as long as you have Teleport up, but after pushing a wave into the enemy, you wanna try to move to your teammates to create pressure, as you shine most in teamfight situations.
You can create a lot of pressure with the positioning of your Ball, as long as your Command: Shockwave is up. This creates controllable spaces around objectives or when you are pushing a lane, due to the enemy's constant risk of getting caught in a game-winning Command: Shockwave.
Syndra:
Poke a bit when you hit level 2. Try to read her movement to see if she wants to look for a Command: Attack poke or not, so you can either react with Command: Protect or dodge it. When you get a 3rd Command: Attack upgrade, you wanna look for a quick poke with your Command: Attack Command: Dissonance Command: Protect combo depending on your position and the ball position. When you hit level 6, don’t be afraid to use Command: Shockwave when she has around 70% HP, because you will burst her to around 30% HP, putting her in lethal range and forcing her to play safe against your Command: Attack Command: Dissonance combo or reset.
Lucian:
This is a matchup you lose if you’re not doing well through levels 1-3.
Make sure you get to use Command: Attack and Command: Dissonance as much as possible and spend your Corrupting Potion offensively on the trade if it’s necessary, which gives you extra damage and sustain.
This will make it really hard for him to Relentless Pursuit offensively for trades.
If he does dash into you, you can secure a Command: Attack Command: Dissonance combo. If you’re looking for a Command: Attack before he uses his Relentless Pursuit, the Lucian could dash into you and deal a lot of damage while dodging your ball and putting you in a defenseless position.
I'd recommend that you try to constantly wiggle forwards and backwards and hit him with the Command: Attack Command: Dissonance AA combo to proc Phase Rush and run back out of range.
She has the complexity to always feel like you can improve and the simplicity to make her easy to learn.
A lot of people might find her control-mage style boring at first, but you get to make your opponent suffer and win the game with a single ultimate ability and incredible zone control as a constant threat for enemies walking out of line.
Orianna always seems to be a good fit in every meta and works very well with most team compositions, due to a multitude of ways to control her ball.
You can begin to climb with Orianna when you’ve played her a few times and get a better understanding of what she's capable of.
Thanks for taking your time to read my guide! Let me know if you have any questions related to Orianna’s matchups and how to become better at her, otherwise i’d appreciate a comment or a like!
