An effective Nautilus player will be able to exploit your squishy nature to be able to either focus you or your ADC down (most likely your ADC), and there's not many items you can build against him to stop his march forward. Given your E's range, it's a matter of whether or not you can safely poke him down early without giving him an engage with his Q+auto. If you can get him low enough, his presence falls significantly, though this becomes increasingly challenging.
Leona
Leona is a lot more outplayable given the simple reason that you can use Mikael's to cleanse her ultimate for any of your teammates. It's not as useful against her other CC because of their short cooldowns, but she is less scary in general.
Yuumi
This kitty cat makes her ADC a magnet for poke, and needs to auto attack you to sustain through it. You can outplay this with proper flag placement - if you're hitting the enemy botlaner with flags, you can knock her up with Q if she jumps off to auto - which may surprise her the first time you do it after using E for poke for a while. This will put her jump on cooldown, and depending on your ADC could result in an easy kill.
Ashe
With a minion wave, you can safely poke Ashe with E without worrying about her W, whether she be carry or support. But depending on her botlane combo, she can dish out a devastating amount of CC. Your survival in this matchup depends on whether or not you waste your E if you ever get caught - should it be on cooldown when you need to escape, you'll be out of luck against Ashe's constant slowing. Thankfully, she needs some attack speed before she truly becomes a thread, making it very winnable. Great to buy a Zhonyas into.
Blitzcrank
Very dependent on the player. A good Blitzcrank can make the lane a nightmare. Just respect his hook by playing safe while it's active and around the minion wave (unless they're already ahead, in which case he'll simply run you down). Look to weave your E poke in ideally when his Q is on cooldown, or just buy a Relic Shield instead and scale up if your ADC doesn't need to win lane.
Brand
Brand's Q and W outrange your E, and his E will outrange you if you're in a minion wave and he uses it on one. This still gives you proper windows to be able to poke him and his carry. Just bait his abilities by moving in and out of your minion wave and in bushes and find your window.
What makes this matchup even is the power of your shielding. Your E is very useful defensively - so long as you don't accidentally burn yourself in the process, you can stand close to your ADC to maximize your Aery shielding to mitigate Brand's burn damage.
Alistar
Alistar is well known for being exploitable early, and you can chunk him down pretty well with early flags. His engage is a lot less worrisome so long as you poke in the right windows. Be mindful of any flash plays, Alistar's will often burn their flashes like no tomorrow, just to access Hexflash and do it some more.
Braum
When paired up with the right ADC (like an Ashe), Braum might be a bit scarier than I imply here. But in general, Braum is not much of an issue. Just flag the ADC behind him when he shields - it lands from the sky and pokes the ADC regardless. Nice try, Braum.
Just be mindful of his level 6 engage, but if you're paired with the right ADC you two should never be close to him to begin with.
Akshan
Akshan isn't really that worrisome besides the utility he brings to his team. You can easily poke him down and avoid his return damage. He's hard to catch if he properly saves his E, but a quick ultimate will stop him in his tracks or force a flash.
You can outplay his ult with your Zhonyas, but why would you? Just sit behind a tower, your minion wave, your top laner, or a random wall.
Cassiopeia
Finding a Cassiopeia in the botlane TENDS to imply they know what they're doing with the champion enough to potentially be a problem, but the best way to outplay her is by not entering her short combat range. Focusing on your E poke will prevent her from machine gunning you down with a Q or W into E-E-E-E-E combo. Just don't be surprised to get deleted by an ultimate if you try to dash on her. You could always try baiting her ult with a mid-air Zhonyas, but this is extraordinarily risky.
Galio
Galio certainly enjoys soaking up magic damage, and you're all too happy to oblige - at least early. Once he starts to ramp up his tankiness, as the vast majority of sane Galio supports will do, it becomes more important to poke their ADC and respect his engage.
Draven
Draven's autos make your shield pitiful, and piloted by the right player and with the right support can be a real doozy of a matchup. Given your E's range however, if their support doesn't provide kill pressure then you can poke him off the wave pretty easily by flagging him while he catches axes.
Jarvan IV
If you find yourself playing against yourself, you'd best watch out - they're probably actually building Attack Damage!!!
But they won't be able to get through your teammates with all the shields you provide! :D
Caitlyn
Your E outranges Caitlyn's autos, giving you the chance to poke at her. Her Q animation also provides a chance at poke (so long as you know the Q isn't headed in your direction, otherwise you 100% lose the trade). Her ultimate is easy to outplay with Zhonyas.
Tristana
With the right support, a Tristana dive can be a real kick in the balls. This is very outplayable with Zhonyas however, and she is extremely vulnerable to your poke, making this matchup a lot more even.
Corki
Corki's low range and predictable abilities make him easy to poke down in lane. Once he reaches 6, he finally has the opportunity to fight back, but you can dodge his R missiles pretty easily. Just respect his package and you should be perfectly fine.
Neeko
Support Neeko's poke is pretty predictable, given she needs to hit something with her E to get its increased range. Her Q is vastly outranged by your E, making the matchup easy in general. ADC Neeko is exceedingly rare, but should you find it, try to shut down the lane by poking her or her support down early before she builds enough lifesteal and attack speed to start running people down.
Lulu
A good Lulu might be able to predict your flags and shield the damage, but the animation is so fast that she'd have to predict it to shield it. She provides a lot of safety to her ADC should you try to dive, so this matchup is best played from a distance.
Jhin
Jhin's burst damage, great CC combo with engage/hook supports, and long range can make this matchup very tricky. However, Jhin with the wrong support can be a lot less scary, making this threat level a lot more variable depending on the full botlane matchup.
Nami
Nami's predictable CC make her a fairly easy support to play into, though she will be able to heal back a lot of your poke damage if she gets in range for her W. However you should be fine being able to poke her down from range with your E.
Aphelios
Aphelios' versatile weapons can often times be a major challenge to deal with. His initial weapon combo (Sniper Healgun) give him the tools to heal back your initial poke and trade back into you, so proceed carefully. Should he use his Healgun first, be careful of a Sniper Q shot into Slow-gun Q root, because with a hook support he can use that for a free all-in. I don't recommend going in on him while he has his shurikens (crescendum), because if he survives in your ult after your Zhonyas he can burst you down.
Ezreal
Ezreal is easy to poke while you have the safety of a minion wave, though it's unlikely you'll pin him down with a knockup unless he uses it aggressively. It's unnecessary regardless, as the lane can be won through your E.
Seraphine
Seraphine has a good response to your poke with her heal, but like other enchanters can only shield your E by predicting it. Careful of her empowered root and her massive level 6 powerspike - ideally if you can win the lane before this, do it.
Sona
Sona is extremely easy to bully in lane, but it's important that you do your best to avoid getting poked by her Q, as every enemy she hits with Q (and ally healed with W) gives her permanent ability haste. This makes it important for you to win lane and transition this into an early win, because otherwise she's perfectly content ARAMing regardless of how her lane went and buffing her teammates to victory. She will outscale you in ally buffing eventually, so stop that from happening.
Kai'Sa
With the right support, Kai'sa can add a ton of additional damage into an all-in, but you can easily outpoke her with your range advantage. Just respect the power of her support and you should be fine.
Morgana
Morgana can be a painful matchup dpeending on the player. She can easily prevent you from getting anything out of engaging on an enemy by preventing your knockup with her spellshield, making this matchup better played from a distance. Just respect her Q and you should be fine.
Your Aery is extremely effective against mitigating her poke from her W, which really helps the matchup. If she can't hit her Q's, she's just a spell shield peddler in this matchup.
Janna
Janna is fast and has a surprising amount of poke from a decent range, but it'll be dependent on how well she can bait your Es, making it a very skill based matchup. Like all other shield supports, she can only shield your E by predicting it.
Ashe
You both provide a lot of poke, and her poke makes yours easier to land. However, her lack of mobility can be a major problem into the wrong matchups, because if you can't provide peel without blowing up, she might just get blown up herself.
Ezreal
Ezreal's safe poking playstyle is perfect for Jarvan, and nothing you buy is lost on him - an early Staff of Flowing Water will benefit you greatly in lane if you have a lot of magic damage on your team, because he can use it well, an Ardent helps his Qs and autos, and a Knight's Vow provides you with a safe means of providing him healing.
Akshan
While Akshan generally benefits from a tankier engage support, his Q poke and passive shield/movespeed give him some tools to play the poke style well. His heavy scaling from his utility means that this playstyle won't ruin him either.
Caitlyn
Caitlyn's strong poke style and auto range makes this a strong synergy, and she can trap people you knock up.
Draven
Draven generally wants a bulkier all-in support, but you can fulfill this purpose while ahead, especially once you have Zhonyas. Might be a stronger candidate to build a Shurelya's for to help him run people down.
A huge help to the synergy however is that Draven will appreciate the 30% extra attack speed, and will be able to focus more on raw damage items.
Tristana
You can ease a lot of pressure on early game Tristana with your poke in the right matchups, and your ultimate gives her a perfect place to all-in someone. In the wrong matchup however, you might find yourselves too heavily punished to take full advantage of this combo unless you build tanky enough.
Lucian
Lucian benefits greatly from CC to be able to land his combos on people, something you might be lacking in unsafe matchups, and he doesn't benefit from the attack speed nearly as much as others.
Jhin
A proper flag can setup Jhin's W, and if they didn't get out of range of your E then it's a free knockup. His range and movespeed give him a lot of safety in the matchup to poke with you as well.
But the best part (that makes it ideal) is activating The Fast. Buy Shurelya's, and between its active, passive, and your E attack speed aura, Jhin will be zooming.
Ziggs
This really goes for all APCs botlane, but with Ziggs being the ultimate APC he's who I put here. Your attack speed isn't amazing on him except when pushing towers, which makes Ziggs a better mage to play with than most others because of his tower pushing power. But Staff of Flowing Water will help him out, and the two of you have incredible poke power, making this botlane not as bad as it seems.

Hi, I'm dragonmasterc (drgnmstrc on NA). I'm mostly Silver/Gold, mostly because I play a bunch of normals and ARAMs, so you know I'm the one to trust! (:
I've always loved playing to experiment and find new builds, and Jarvan IV as a support has been a staple of mine for a couple years now. His E does a surprising amount of damage in lane, and if you don't poke with your E, you can sit next to your ADC to proc Aery up to four times! This gives Jarvan a unique position in being a great poke support that can mitigate burn damage very well. You can either play to max out your shielding and poking playstyle, or get into the fights with Zhonyas and Redemption. The options are endless!
