I really enjoy your guide, though I have yet to try it. (Sometimes I prefer to listen to people who make such guides, OVER the proplay in probuilds for example, because people like you crunched more of the numbers most of the time~)
Either way, I'm eager to try hextech gunblade (since it seems to be your most to-go build?), but I've got some questions:
How do you actually sustain early on towards level 6. Because I've played Kog'maw mid to death for years as well, and the only sustain I have is his E for waveclear thankfully, until level 6 (Similar to Shyvana, he also gets poked down until 6). But since Shyvana doesn't have such waveclear as Kog'maw's E...I just wonder how you do it without a bit of help from Luden's Echo first...
Also because I'd like to go for the onhit/attack build to sustain Dragon form. (Gunblade, nashors's tooth, etc) but at the same time It feels like it will lack a lot of CDR so you're going to feel that... Because most of the items I build on Shyvana almost always have CDR in it. So here's a bit of my dilemma (and I could be wrong; by all means, I did not crunch the numbers!):
Would it be more viable to go gunblade first most of the time (basically your split-push build) OR your Luden's echo path (heavy E damage).
Then again, I have to play it a few times myself to figure out which fits the most for me personally, but I'm just a little scared early game that I will not have enough waveclear/cdr. And later not enough onhit/attack power if I get Luden's instead.
(A lot to read, sorry! I'm just really excited for this. I want her to replace my spammed Kog'maw mid because I really miss playing Shyvana)
I don't think Rylai and Liandry's is ever worth it since you need both to get full value out of the items since you have no CC on your kit. They're tuned for champions with periodic damage which keeps the debuff ticking over a long period of time (go to hell, Malzahar). Plus even with them, AP just absolutely sucks at tank shredding. You'd be much more effective with PTA bloodrazor to amplify their damage taken by your team while getting a much stronger source of percent damage than Liandry. I don't think Shojin has a place on an AP build. You're too squishy to get much reset value by auto attacking in a big fight. Good shojin users are strong Conquereor stackers with innate tankyness or sustain on their kits like Jax, Riven, and Renekton. G2 Wunder was trying out a build in toplane that went Conqueror, spear, twin shadows, Rylais, but it seems to have been a failed experiment. I think he moved on from it. G2 is a crazy creative team and their players are the best in the world, so it's tough to say if something they test in solo queue is widely applicable or useful for the rest of us.
" its pretty legit if you're sieging/being sieged in a lane and theres minions to proc it on. to expand on what the other guy said, you're not supposed to be using the shojin passive to duel in melee. You're just supposed to proc it on minions/jg and throw out more E's.
also, one of the side benefits of this build is that you're not entirely squishy. If you have shojin + rylai + morello thats +800 hp. with ult you're looking at +950-1150 hp. The real question is what does nashor's offer you that shojin doesn't. nashor's gives 80 ap 50% IAS and onhit dmg. Shojin gives 60 AD 250 hp and the cdr passive that also gives 50% ias. both give 20% cdr. Base E has 0.6ad and 0.7ap ratio. the explosion has 0.3ad and 0.3 ap ratio. the dot has 0.1 and 0.2 ap ratio. Effectively you're looking at a combined 1.0ad and 1.2ap ratio guaranteed. thats 96 or 60 more dmg on E for nashors or shojin, respectively. with 6 or 16 dmg more per tick. The thing is that if played right shojin could give ~3 E's during the duration of the passive. nashors cant give you that. you're stuck to the 4.4s (45% cdr) cd. you could argue that nashors has the base ias allowing you to stack rage up faster and subsequently ult more, but I don't its as impactful as being able to get out 3 e's in a few seconds."
Also, don't undervalue the Nashor's on hit passive. Aside from fury generation and objective damage, that is seriously all that is holding you up while not in dragon form. 15+0.15 AP is a lot when you consider twin bite. Without it, you'd have to ult to finish off even very wounded targets if they juke your E. A ****in super minion is more threatening than human form AP Shyvana without E and without nashor's.
Anyway, not for me. Feels great as a second item in an AD build, though. I don't much like going Mallet second anymore, think you gotta go something more impactful unless your ADC is popping off and you really need to peel that Hecarim.
