Her combo doesnt have as much burst as some other Mages - that's true. Sustainability is the key. As you already stated, Evelynn got quite some health gain. With my build, I also add a lot of health. She is not easiliy killed by her opponent in mid. I usually don't have any problems to survive the opponents burst while killing them in the progress. Also, do not underestimate her damage. It's quite high. In most of the games, I got the highest damage on champions overall. Only in really long games (> 50 min) the ADCs get higher damage output.
Also, if you argue about her range - there are other mid champions with low range which are being played. As Evelynn I got the advantage of being invisible. If used wisely, you got a real chance to keep up with the cs.
By the way, a skilled jungler destroys vision wards, that could keep the allied Evelynn from ganking other lanes. There will always be a gap and as a skilled Evelynn player you know how to use it ;).

The problem with Eve is, even played as AP, her combo does not provide high enough burst to beat other assassins or mages. Another problem is her range is medium, so she will definitely get damaged in order to reach her opponent. With her Ravage doing physical damage, getting penetration is not very productive as it will increase only part of her damage. In higher tier games, you are very likely to loose in mid and get pushed out of the farm, since you cant trade(again lack of range). Your only advantage could be the ability to gank the side lanes, but ofc a skilled opponent would have vision wards to counter that. The latest patches turned her from an assassin to a fighter type of champ, Riot pushed her into the jungle. Her base armor is one of the very high and beats even champions like Lee, her health gain per lvl is also very high. Her weakness is she has hard jungle start, but that prolly could be to not let her rush into gank pressure from the very start. Her signature is high sustain damage and to make use of it she needs durability, to let her outsustain her opponent. Ofc playing jungle is hard, as it requires prolly the most knowledge of all other lanes.

thanks a lot for you respone. Id even go further and say, playing her in jungle is contra productive. She's so damn squishy. But she does tons of damage. Its only logical not to play her in jungle, but as a carry and let some tanky champs go to jungle - thats my opinion. But get accustomed to jungle, too. Some times people just pick a 2nd mid and then your only option is jungle. In that case, just get the jungle item first and then start getting the ap build. its much slower and most probably wont work that good, but after all the game is messed up by that point anyway.

Also, I'm happy to hear, that its working for you, too. The flame wars when picking her as mid laner are quite funny, though. By the way, looking at kills is one thing of course, but check your damage after the game. Probably its far beyond that of your teammates damage (if the game lasts too long, adc might get higher dmg though). Often i get accused of only kill stealing, but the damage shows the opposite (though ur harassing mates usually dont look at that and just report you :) ).

There are some difficult champions to play against in mid, but in the end it all comes up to their skill. Mostly its not the champions abilities you lose against, but the enemy player's skills.
Actually, i cant remember losing against a le blanc. Shes even more squishy than evelynn and as soon as she used her W, you can get some dmg on her by dashin in. If you dash in and shes near to your tower, she must expect a gank and just has to get away. Its like poker. You have to act convincingly. Also try to anticipate when shes trying to stop you with her E and just evade (with your early boots and some training its quite easy). If its not working at all, call for your jungler to help or see, if you can get some kills by ganking, which is quite easy with Evelynn. In any way, good luck practicing with her.

I am kinda new at lol and I always liked evelynn and have recentely unlocked her.

I love her shadow walk, the way it allows you to go through the map unseen and appear behind your enemy in lane and signing for their death.
But there is one thing: I am ****ING BAD at jungle. It's the only role I can't play, so I was very happy to know that there was someone who played her AP middle lane, that is my main lane.
I read the guide, I watched your videos (I usually don't like spectating but your videos didnt bore me :D).
I noticed two things immediately by playing her middle lane:
1) people should play more AP evelynn, it REALLY WORKS on her.
2) Many people have flamed me in champ select or team builder and i would 99% of the times get kicked out just because they think that evelynn works only as Hybrid Jungler so Eve mid must suck in their opinion so they don't even give it a try.

As soon as you try and play something out the standards you get flamed. I NEVER did bad in any game with Evelynn AP, even in the games I lost I still would go hard on kills even when I kept dying like an idiot.
People on lol should really open their minds about Eve AP mid because this is so much overlooked.

So, I want to thank you for the guide and for having given me the possibility to play this champ that i like so much without having to learn how to jungle because I ****ing hate it xD

I noticed that in middle lane she is very strong against champs like Nidalee (she cant harass you with her spear if you are invisible half the time, she would rather throw it at the minions to farm), Lissandra and Katarina too but LeBlanc (which I own and love) really destroyes her because at the beginning you cant afford to harass if not with hate spikes because you are melee so you just farm as soon as you get near a minion there comes the leblanc combo that destroyes you, so I wouldnt advise picking Evelynn AP mid against LeBlanc.
