@xtmattmanlx & @Meganna:
Sorry I should have clarified that. I specifically don't choose Rod of Ages because I'm not looking to make myself squishy.
Rylai's Scepter replaces Rod of Ages for two reasons:
1. The amazing passive ability that slows the enemy by 35% on each ability cast. (with Ryze essentially a constant 35% slow because you are mashing out the spells.
2. I don't take Rylai's for the health, it's a nice little bonus.

When I take Rod of Ages I always find my self being more health to get stolen than a tough little bugger. More armor and Magic Resist in this build than an emphasis on straight health, and you still manage to get at least 4k mana. I find Rod of Ages too often fills a whole that could later be utilized by a strong passive ability.

If you wanted a sudden burst in HP, just get Rod of Ages.
More HP, more MP, and the same AP.

A very solid build, at first glance it's like, "Pshh, too much AP and not enough MP, but then you read what all the items give and it's actually very solid. +1

Thanks for reading the full guide. You made me realize that I was rather heavy on the AP or at least it appeared so. I really happen to like Rylai's because of its amazing passive ability and sudden burst in survivability. Again, thank you very much.

Terrible, nowadays you just build Ryze as a mana tank and you will get all the damage from there, no one builds Ryze as AP anymore, and I think you totally got how to build Ryze since the rework wrong.

Much appreciate your pointing out how much AP is in my build. I didn't mean to make it so, most of the AP items are there for their passives, which I realize isn't terribly efficient but as of now I haven't found a suitable more mana heavy item to replace the AP items that are made for the rest of the casters.
