last hitting as soraka isn't very "idle" due to the fact that you should always let your carry get last hits. Also getting your w first can save your ally from getting first blooded or help him get first blood.

She doesn't really need ALL those defensive items, plus heal, plus ghost anymore.

wen you say "built for tanking" i assume you mean the high health that i get for her...this helps with her survivability as you are always a target for ganks!
