Better than it seems, at least at mid-ELO. Give it a try before you knock it, really :P.

Edit: Just a note, you can sell the philosph stone 14 minutes after you've bought it, and it'll still have paid for itself.

I also buy banshee and frozen heart with anivia. These items with the archangel already give you a nice amount of AP. But getting a warmogs?? why do you want an anivank? replace warmogs with rabadons and I'll give ya a +1 ;)
