I think atma's OR rabadons are pretty much requirements though, and so is either triforce or lich bane. I have a thing against skarner's who get rylai's, I think unless your going all out AP with the nashor's, lich bane, rabadons, voidstaff, rods and whatnot, rylai's isn't really useful, you might as well get banshee's or a rod of ages straight off.

Also, merc treads, I know skarner seems slow, get triforce, good things happen, get it very very early, better things happen, swiftness boots aren't as useful as merc treads, half the reason you can't catch upto people is the fact your snared. Swiftness boots don't help with that.

A shurelya's wouldn't go a miss either, it's a really good item on him

As much as I like the overall guide I have a question, where is DPS coming from? I mean just the AP from crystal sceptre dosent add up too all that much. With sheen he can be tanky and DPSy early on. Just a suggestion ;)

Well thanks... Sorry, I can't agree with anything you have written here. The damage is fine, Skarner is not the main glassy dps otherwise he would have a blink-type spell, stronger ratios, and some type of escape.
Rylais + Gunblade works amazingly together, super slow from afar. Core Items doesn't mean you don't have any luxury items late game. I don't think, I KNOW that Flash is better. The art of ganking is the element of surprise, if you simply walk up you're giving them a large chance for an escape. It's hard to react when you're frozen especially when using Impale on one of the champions with a hard CC.
For future reference, please don't downvote a guide just because it's not for your liking. You might build Skarner as a Full on DPS but i prefer a fun gluing Skarner similar to Singed.

nice guide, but damage seems way to low for my liking. Besides that, you invest both in AP and AD, but you dont buy any items that make them into a working synergy. Also ghost is more usefull than flash i think, especially late game.(for ulti)

Although i like the overall defense from the last mastery point, i like having blue up for longer better. Maybe just my opinion. XD
