Although I do NOT say that your oppinion is bad at all, your argumentation is weak; by EXACTLY THE SAME WORDS you could assert that tanks are not viable in Dominion at all.... which is obviously not true so consequently your argumentation is not correct.
What I meant was, leave the tanking to actual tanks. Playing a damage dealer as a tank is just plain dumb regardless of the game type. Yes tanks are important in Dominion, but that's why there are tank champions. Karthus is meant to do damage, and everything about him reinforces that role. It's just silly to build him otherwise. And the only way you could use my exact words to argue that tanks in general are useless in Dominion would be to use them out of context. I was clearly talking about just Karthus.
I don't think building Karthus as a tank is a good idea in any scenario, especially in Dominion. Everything in Dominion is faster, respawn timers, teamfights and the matches themselves. Because of that, you want to be able to dish out a lot of damage as fast as possible. Sure the survivability is nice, but with a 15 second respawn timer it's kind of pointless. Yes he may be able to deal more damage over a longer period of time, but realistically you probably won't ever get to that point since the teamfights in Dominion are generally shorter. All you give o your team with this build is something for the other team to kill without much risk.
