I considered everything that everyone has said here, and have updated this build for Zed to have Smite now. In the future, I will add a few more tips when I have a little more time on my hands.

I do appreciate everyone's feedback as it seems that was the only negative comment about this build. I really think it has a lot of upside.

I still think Smite is a must for any jungler, if I jungle vs anyone without smite, ill be happy enough to attempt buff/dragon and baron steals, maybe not vs a Cho or Nunu, but a zed without smite is a risky dragon or baron all the time.

I agree that this build isn't something I would try in ranked. You need a lot more burst dmg for your ganks to work well. Maybe with a proper team comp, but for solo queue, again, I wouldn't build zed as a tank. Theres many more champs that can go tanky in the jungle if that's your playstyle. Sorry.

I strongly disagree.

Zed cooldown on Shadow Slash is fast and powerful enough to where you do not need Smite to clear the jungle effectively. Not to mention, clearing the jungle "fast" isn't always the objective for an effective Jungler.

If you want to use Smite then that's fine, however, I've had much more success without it as I feel that it is a crutch mid-game for Zed and ganking is much better with Ghost and Ignite

This... I don't know what to say. Zed tank deals 0 damage and has no crowd control aside from his (rather weak) slow. He also has a dash that makes him untargetable, further undermining tank Zed.

And you always take Smite, no exceptions. Without it, you lose all objective control, cannot counterjungle and are vulnerable to counterjungling yourself, and your clear speed is slowed down significantly.
