Some food for thought on 'V.S. AI' games. I play a lot against the A.I. and admittedly its because I lack confidence in my understanding and delivery of the META. However, when I am playing versus bots, I am always practicing things I would need to do and be aware of in a real PvP game. I place wards and use map maneuvers. Also I am often playing with my friend who is teaching me via Vent on how to read situations, advising how to use terrain to advantage, etc.
Now I totally get that for a lot of players Bot games are for IP. I also get that I need to get over my 'fears' and just dive in to PvP for real experience and learning.
All that aside, I still think its a good stop thought to have when playing V.S. AI that even if it is just a 'bot game' to you, it may not be that way for someone else.

I only play bot games because my internet just sucks (which is now around 90% of my total games... sigh). I usually try to be original such as soraka jungle and stuff, and try to help out people that are still unexperienced in the game. But yeah... if you really need to get good experience with the game, you need to go PvP. It's not such a big deal if people rage at you because you bought a wrong item, because unskilled player report does never lead to a ban, so you can still mess around with items.
My sympathies on your ****py internet, that is a bummer.
Atropa: I hear you! It really sucks when you make a mistake and others verbalise it. Definitely try Dominion and ARAMs. ARAMs especially allow you to learn how to play against, with and as a myriad of champions you may not have encountered before ^^

I don't mind if folks are cool about helping me learn from my mistakes don't get me wrong. Its just when they get nasty about it that it sucks. I am definitely going to try out ARAM and then Dominion. Hopefully that will help me step out of my fearfulness of PVP. :)

Everything you just said can be accomplished in a 5 minute custom game. No reason to spend 30+ minutes in a bot game.
30+ minutes in a bot game? I'm having a bad day if I hit 20. I've ended some games before 15 minutes.
Bot games are hassle-free learning environments, but if you want to get better at the game, you need to experience PvP.
If you want a similar sort of Co-op vs AI experience without the stigma of playing poorly/inadequately, in an environment where players make many silly mistakes all the time so your own playing seems fine, try Dominions or ARAMs.
In both modes you can muck around and test builds/champions and no one really will get angry. So if you're worried or anxious about playing with real people because you don't want them to think poorly of you, those two maps are a great place to branch out to "real player" modes.
Once you're comfortable there, you can try Summoner's Rift.
Jhoijhoi you've hit the nail on the head for my anxiety about PvP. But not so much as what people think, it's more what they tend to say. I just don't care to be run down in a game. I know rationally I shouldn't let it bother me, but I never claimed to be overly rational. :)
I want to have fun even if I make mistakes. Especially as someone who struggles with all the moving parts in the game I make a number of mistakes. I'm probably just over thinking it, I suppose. I appreciate your insightful feedback and suggestions.

The only time where this isn't true is when you're still learning the game. Once you understand what a ward is and where to put it, playing against bots only makes you stupider as you get attuned to their easily predictable behavior.

1) After a certain point, true, you won't improve yourself vs bots. Because humans behave vastly differently from AI and bots are f**king stupid anyways. You won't learn any different tactics nor get much experience from different scenarios.

3) Bot games are sometimes played for easier IP gain.
4) I personally find bot games very dull and uninspiring. Bots cheat and still suck a decent player's d*ck.
(Since you're on NA, try the LoL University in-game chat room. They have scheduled practice matches once or twice a month, and you can find a mentor there.)
