Views: 2028 It's Time for Riot to Make Something Else than Champions.

As we progress into 2012,
League of Legends finds its champion roster closing in on the 100 mark. While many enjoy the amount of choices that are given, as DotA had a number similar to what League is getting to, I feel that having this many champions may too much for Riot to continue balancing. As we're seeing the new champion, Sejuani, looking like a scrambled mess of past champions put together, Riot ahould focus more on other aspects of League of Legends, and slow the champion making process: possibly removing some of the lesser used and forgotten champions.
Frankly, looking at the champions that are mostly used, I can think off of the top of my head some champions that you just will not see unless someone is out to troll:

Also, instead of making a new borderline-over-powered champion every two weeks, why not work on bug fixes every two weeks and space out the champions, giving them proper time to be balanced and enjoyable, instead of taking a hat full of phrases like: "Tank", "Slow", "Pusher", etc; shaking them up, grabbing three, and making a character out of it. Do we really need another slow/perma-slow champion when characters like

And whatever happened to Achievements? Un-lockable Avatar Icons? Magma Chamber? All these interesting ideas that would put more beneficial effort towards the game instead of another Champion Spotlight. But the game plan for now is to continue adding new champions and new skins, continuing the massive profit being made consistently for the past couple years. But I can't be the only one who believes that seeing some other functions implemented that have Already shown up on other League of Legends cilents would be nice to see, a nice showing of affection from Riot Games that has nothing to do with buying more RP. I understand this may sound selfish, but for all the money they make on this game, I can't imagine it being too hard to put in some Achievements that could get you new Avatar Icons. There ya go, two birds one stone. Riot has the time and the staff to continue making one of the better games out there, lets see if they have the tenacity to implement community ideas instead of profitable ones first.
E.g. Fizz shark, similar to Leona but used differentl
Ahri Dash, similar to Akali but used differently
What I mean is they give the same effects but allow the player to use them differently. Idk if this even makes sense but I feel that it needs to be said.
Do it in the PBE forums. Less hate and more real thinkers in there. The forum has gone quiet so it will be a welcome new thread.
Swallowing my pride, posting on General Discussion, lol:

I would, but that is a cesspool of hatred coming my way. I dare not bother. haha

Pay attention to aAa at Kiev, they use Urgot a lot, they might give him a shot. He's actually used competitively far more than a lot of other AD champions, I'm surprisd you think he's underpowered/played.
Dan Dinh plays a great Heimer, and played him in the final at the last tournament.
Kat, I forgot the tournament, but it was V8 (iirc) who picked her. They lost anyway, but not because of the pick. The enemy had no CC and she was a good pick.
All of which are recent examples. Eve is waiting for a rework, and Karma's just not very powerful, really (relative to other picks). There's always going to be a "worst" champion(s), they can't perfectly balance everything, such a feat would be impossible.
I'd agree with a lot of it, though I just want something like Magma Chamber for a change of scenery. Let's be honest, Dominion was a flop (not awesome, fast or fun, unfortunately).
LOVE this post so very much. Have you posted this to the LoL forums? I sure hope so.

For the amount of time they spent hyping it and telling us how awesome it was and how it's going to change LoL as we know it, and then decline to release it: it's kind of annoying. It was such a great concept and I was pumped for like 6 months for it. I'd rather have Chamber than Dominion.
Okay, useless probably isn't the best word. Out-classed probably suits more.

those dota modes are awesome, not always the same **** as well.
I feel you are mistaken whn it comes to the champions you are saying aren't seen "unless someone feels lucky". Urgot is a great AD, he is however a bit tankier then other AD's and was mostly used to shut down the other AD (aswell as having amazing poke). Just as heimer they aren't really viable in every composition though. Heimer has great control, but he lacks the single target burst that other casters have (making him less of a nuke) the fact that he has a permaslow (which targets champions attacking him) during a 15 sec period, aswell as a blind/stun is just forgotten, since most people just care about one single thing: Kills.
All of these champs (aswell as many more) have their own niches but aren't seen as much in soloqueue because of the lack of communication, people will just pick what they want to play instead of going for a specific teamcomp.
RIOT has already quite some time ago stated that Magma chamber was no longer a priority, they went with dominion instead. I can't get why people still are complaining about no chamber -.-
Except for these things (first one was aimed at the comment) I do agree with you in that they should focus on different things, achievements being a very good suggestion (even though this may be annoying if people are trying to do certain strange achievements in a game you're in). Problem being that stuff like that ain't easy.
I agree in some points. On the one hand, I like the variety of champions. It took me quite a while to find a champion I REALLY enjoy. Yes, there are several champions to fill the same needs in regards to role and tools, but they still feel different when playing.
On the other hand, I would love to see more maps for example. Make another 5v5 map that is maybe more Jungle dependant. Or make even a 3v3v3 map.
Now nearing the 100 champions mark mybe Riot should start also working on other aspects, but i love the variety of champtions.
