Pros / Cons

PROS!
    Fun to play
    Melt faces
    Carry the game
    Make others rage quit
Most importantly, muck the other teams barn.

CONS!
    Squishy almost all game!
If not controlled properly, can feed like a champ
You most likely will not survive team fights
You'll be targeted first almost all the time

Runes

For runes I have selected:
6 Greater Seal of Clarity
3 Greater Seal of Potency

9 Greater Mark of Potency

9 Greater Glyph of Potency

3 Greater Quintessence of Celerity

So, why these you ask?

You need Clarity for your mana regen, because at the rate of Brand's cooldown's (CD's) you will be casting alot. The potency for obvious AP boost and the Celerity to reduce Brand's cooldowns even further!

Masteries

Look at the tree's.

Generally I like to stay in the Utility tree due to the fact we can reduce Brand's CD's to almost nothing. Also to increase his mana regen, Awareness is very important during early game. Try to go mid, and the increase in experience (although not that much) can change the battle between your opponent in mid.

For example, I have Awareness, he/she does not. I will be earning a little bit more, I can get my lvl 2 spell faster and then get the kill quicker.

Items

Items... (please note that this is a GUIDE! This should not be followed EXACTLY every game. Its a list of items that work well together, depending on what your opposing team is doing you should be COUNTERING! An example would be if they are going nuts on MR then you should be going for items with MP! /endrant)

Here is the hard decision where YOU have to make it for the game.

You can either start out with Doran's Ring, if your new to brand and would like more survivability and mana regen. If you've got a few games under your belt, and rolled some enemy's, go with Amplifying Tome.

Here's the tricky part.

You can keep going for Mejai's Soulstealer which is now only 800g compared to the 1.1k gold for the Sorc's boots, if you feel like your going to be outrun and then mucked, go for the boots. If you are already facerolling early game, go for Soulstealer.

Then go and grab Will of The Ancients. I do this for the spell vamp that it gives you and the nice AP boost. The reason you'll want to go for spell vamp is so you wont have to waste your money on potions.

From here, you can go for Rabadon's Deathcap or Rod of Ages depending if you need more survivability or not.

ITEMS ARE ALL UP TO YOU!

Skill Sequence

Read up top, I'll explain down here.

Sear: Brand launches a ball of fire forward that deals magic damage. If the target is ablaze, Sear will stun the target for 2 seconds.
Brand launches a ball of fire forward that deals 80/120/160/200/240 (+0.65) magic damage.

If the target is ablaze, Sear will stun the target for 2 seconds.
Cost
50/50/50/50/50 Mana
Range
25000

Explanation!
So, Sear is a great spell if you can hit it properly, you move the arrow to where you THINK your target is going, because the ball of flame travels very SLOW. Otherwise great stun.

Pillar of Flame - After a short delay, Brand creates a pillar of flame at a target area, dealing magic damage to enemy units with the area. Units that are ablaze take an additional 25% damage.
After a short delay, Brand creates a pillar of flame at a target area, dealing 80/125/170/215/260 (+0.6) magic damage to enemy units within the area.

Units that are ablaze take an additional 25% damage from Pillar of Flame.
Cost
70/80/90/100/110 Mana
Range
900

Explanation!
Your main damage is here! It takes about one second for the spell to start, so place it ahead of where there running, or if there stunned where there standing!

Conflagration - Brand conjures a powerful blast at his target, dealing magic damage to them. If the target is ablaze, Conflagration spreads to nearby enemies.
Brand conjures a powerful blast at his target, dealing 70/105/140/175/210 (+0.55) magic damage.

If the target is ablaze, Conflagration spreads to nearby enemies.
Cost
60/65/70/75/80 Mana
Range
675

Explanation!
A great Kill-shot spell, or what I use it for is to activate the Ability, the enemy is now on fire, and your PoF will now do 25% more damage.

Pyroclasm - Brand unleashes a devastating torrent of fire, dealing magic damage each time it bounces. If a target is ablaze, Pyroclasm's missile speed increases.
Brand unleashes a devastating torrent of fire, dealing 150/250/350 (+0.5) magic damage each time it bounces up to 5 bounces.

If a target is ablaze, Pyroclasm's missile speed increases.
Cost
100/150/200 Mana
Range
750

Explanation!
Use mostly in crowded areas, although try to get them ablaze first so the spell will bounce faster, dealing the same damage in a faster amount of time. It moves slowly as Sear! Always use in a group environment!

Blaze - Brand's spells light his targets ablaze, dealing 2% of their maximum Health in magic damage per second for 4 seconds.

Explanation!
A little bit like a DoT (Damage over time) and a HoT (Heal over time), for the HoT you need to have your spell vamp items, or no health for you!

How to use them!
Open up with your Conflagration spell to get your ability going then you use your PoF and then stun so a E,W,Q firing or you can even Q,W,E if your confident in your Sear firing abilities. Use your ULT when you feel it is necessary it can be used offensively and DEFENSIVELY.

The reasons:

PoF first! You can use this to keep back your opposing player and when used with zoning properly, can result in early quick enemy kills. Then go onto your Conflagration, as another way to keep the enemy back if they are too close. Get sear at lvl 4 and then FORGET ABOUT IT. Well, not entirely. I suggest that its better if you max out your PoF first because you will be doing the most damage with it. Conflagration can also be used as a kill-shot. Your Sear spell, is harder to hit with if your not so great with it, which is why I say keep it at lvl 1 and stun then do crazy burst damage.

As for your ULT! I do NOT suggest using it on 1v1's especially if you have a clear advantage. Your ult act's like a Pinball machine, so it hits one enemy then bounces off a bunch and is GREAT in team fights. Only use if it if he's running away and you KNOW it will kill him.

Summoner Spells

Woo spells!

What you should choose!

Go with Ghost and Flash/ Clarity.

You can choose between Flash and Clarity for the difference of not letting that person get away, or getting away yourself. Clarity having the power to give you that extra mana in a pinch.

Alternates!
Teleport and Exhaust.

Use teleport if you wish to help out team mates quicker, or exhaust if your not confident in your Sear firing abilities.

Playing as Brand

Phew!

Now that were done with all the explaining let's start playing!

Make sure you

Early game:
Ask for mid, BEG FOR IT! Although if you cannot get it top is nice too (or if your unsure how to play mid).

To start Brand is a burst damage kinda guy, so careful you don't Ooom. ALWAYS CALL MIA'S!

Anyways, go down center and fire from behind your minions. At opportune times, land strikes on your opponent and even toss in a PoF if needed. Once he the enemy is at 3/4's health he will be scared, or at least should be. If it is a ranged character you need to be VERY careful they will not own you if it is a melee still be careful but your able to get more free hits on them.

Around lvl 4, you can either attempt to kill them or force them back to B. At this time go up with your minion's. Call the MIA and hit the tower once or twice then step back. You should always be at least two level's ahead of your top and bottom team. If you kill him you can go to the tower or you can go top or bot and gank. Be mindful of your lane getting ganked!

Mid game:
Around lvl 9 or so. You should already have most of your items and the mid tower should be gone or almost gone. Keep playing as you did in early game the only reason you should be going back is to get an item or your almost dead.

End game:
You should now be running around almost having Rabadon's Deathcap. Gank with your team be careful as to not get ganked. You should go into team fights almost last as to not get yourself killed.

Team fighting:
Go in close to last as you can, use your Sear spell (your bound to hit one of them) and then open up your PoF if there is a large group, cast your ult on the person who has been Seared. Then finish them off with Conflagration, if needed.

Fighting 1v1's:
Always try to get your enemy to at LEAST 3/4's health before 1v1ing.

Try to hit with your Sear, if not exhaust. Open up your PoF and then Conflag. They should be dead, if your items are being countered against their's and there at least 3/4 down in health.

Summary

All in all Brand is a really fun character to play, although a bit Squishy all game if you play carefully with the right aggressiveness, you can be melting people's faces off in no time!

If you have any comments or things I should add feel free to post a comment. You'll get the credit for what you helped with.
