Summary

So this build is my absolute favourite for riven solo top. I also use it when jungling but mainly because im too lazy too change out argueably more useful runes/masteries.

You pump out quite a decent amount of damage as well as become as very good offtank mid to late game.

Runes

I prefer using the above runes as they help provide a good source of damage from start to finish. If I was to full out AD runes then I would be very strong early game but ALOT more useless mid-late game.

Armour/magic res runes are to become a better off tank. You could push for health but imo warmogs and frozen mallet is plenty of HP, you want to be reducing the amount you are hit for each time.

Masteries

The masteries are imo perfect. She gains HP from the defensive tree to make her more tanky and increase the amount of damage from atmas. The Offense tree then just boosts your damage, crits and armour pen even further. If you were jungling you could swap out some points for increase damage to minions but imo thats wasted points in teamfights/ganks, especially when you can jungle without them perfectly fine.

Items

With a dorans blade + your 3% life steal from talents you are quite sustainable in top lane and don't need to go back very often. The extra HP is always nice and the 10AD is amazing as Riven's AD scale is wicked.

Your core items are Brutalizer and frozen mallet. After that you can mess around with Infinty Edge, Sheen, Phantom, Black Cleaver but imo she doesn't seem to benefit from them fully compared to what I take.

You could possibly switch out for Attack speed boots or if your getting heavily CC'd go for the mecury treads. The only downfall with this though is your missing 15% of your CD reduction which is hard to find somewhere else, and as Riven is based around CD'd is quite essential.

The only item I would recommend switching out would be the Bloodthirster. I always find it hard to pick a final item for riven but thats what I normally end up going for to top up my damage and grab abit of life steal to counter the masses amount of it you get in late game. I think it's perfectly viable to take Infinity Edge or even possibly a phantom dancer for different situations ;) If your taking heavy damage its also viable to get another defensive item such as banshees, thornmail, wits end (for abit of damage too) and or guardians.

If your in top lane you want to make sure that you buy wards to stop you from getting ganked from junglers.

Skill Sequence

You want to max out Ki Burst > Broken Wings and then Valor, and ofc take your ultimate whenever you can.

Ki Burst is amazing. It pumps out the most dps along with that crucial stun catching you the kill just outside the tower.

Broken Wings is also quite nice for DPS but its mainly used to activate your passive and using third Q for the stun combo with Ki.

If they are almost in melee when you initiate then i'd say use Q once, followed with a W and then a 2nd Q for dmg, stun dmg. If then are not slowed or somehow get away you can either use E to catch up followed with your 3rd Q for the stun or Just the 3rd Q if they are close enough. Also you want to pop your ultimate at the start if you can to make the most of your extra dmg. You can then use the ulti aoe for finishing them off after your combo. If you have enough CD reduction you may be able to get another W off too.

Q and E are amazing for escaping too. You can gain ALOT of distance between you and your enemy if you can see your not going to take them 1 on 1.

Summoner Spells

Now that flash has been nerfed I would not recommened it. Ghost for melee champions are a must imo, you can be chasing someone while still getting off some autoattacks. Exhaust is just another way so they can't escape as well as taking reduced damage if they decide to attack you.

You could also take ignite or Teleport but they aren't as effective.
