To all and any who think this build is something you should follow, please do not. If your going to be playing AP Yi, your going to have to find your own build. You probably will come up with something like this if you get any good with him. This build has a logical reason behind every unlogical mainstream belief. This is my first build, and AP Yi is my main. I will make this build better as I go along and if you have any suggestions or comments, please give them. AP YI is for the patient player, not the eager.

AP Yi is one of my best champions, he is a great solo and a great champ overall. Despite what you hear, he is viable and very well rounded. He has high survivability because of meditate and can deal significant damage with alpha. Alpha is setoff with a 6 second cooldown and is a very nice farming tool. Along with his ultimate(Highlander) You can spam alpha even more in team fights. This reset that your ultimate gives is what makes AP Yi so possible. One of the easier champs to score a pentakill with and can be used to just overall tank in any fight as long as you avoid stun. He is not for everyone I do warn though, is has a certain play style that involves you to use tactics and your brain before the spamza button.

First off yes this build has no boots, I feel that they hinder your champion. Some builds need them, some do not. Ether ways my explanation for this is simple, if your smart with your AP Yi then you will never need them unless you make a mistake. I have outran most anyone and if I did not then it was not worth going in so deep. This build is about lane control and keeping your timing up with your build.

Sapphire gives you significant lane control start of the match with your alpha strike. The act of being able to spam this to a point gives you a advantage that most will never have. This is the first step in timing your build right and it involves getting tear fast. Just spam your alpha on every creep and try to harass as much as possible. Last hitting creeps till there is only 3 of them is a good tip to get harass in on enemy champions. Remember alpha hits four enemies at a very nice range and has a chance to deal 400 damage to creeps. Once you get enough for tear, back to base and then teleport back to tower. Then just keep farming and assist any allies if you are not solo. I prefer solo in the end, a lot easier to keep your build going at a steady pace.

Well I am going to make this short and sweet, you need this for cooldown. With 40 percent cooldown you have second cooldown on alpha which is a very big advantage. Evil tome first, then deathgrasp. After deathgrasp build upgrade your tear to archangel, by then you should have around 270 ap to start the fun.

Masteries are for faster cooldown and more pen, end of story.

- Very good solo harass
- He has amazing survivability for any situation
- He has strong team play and can score a penta easier then most
Cons
- Very vulnerable to stun
- You have to have patience, if you do not, you will fail
- Mid game you have to rely a bit on your allies if you have normal amount of farm
- People qq about such a good build

I know these are not all the pros and cons but hey this is my first build XD

AP Yi is viable, he is not low tier. If you play him right then you will find a very good, high surviving champ, who can deal good damage. Life is life, if you do not like the build then do not play it. Scratch that, do not play this build at all, it is just for tips. If you want to be truly good and not fail at AP Yi, make your own build by practice.
