Patch 14.5 PBE Preview

Read on to learn about some of the many changes you can expect to see on the Rift once Patch 14.5 goes live in just one week!

New Cosmetics

Three new PROJECT skins are coming online in Patch 14.5 - PROJECT: Gangplank (1350 RP), PROJECT: Jax (1350 RP), and PROJECT: Naafiri (1350 RP). As usual, each skin comes with its own assortment of chromas, with each being available or 195 RP a pop.

The Lunar Revel celebration is not quite over yet. Each Porcelain skin is getting a new Chroma you can pick up in the Event Shop - "Opulent". For 300 tokens, you can pick up an Opulent chroma for your favoured champion, and receive an icon to go along with it.

Major Champion Changes

A few junglers are receiving buffs. Namely, Jarvan IV, Kayn (Rhaast, specifically), Wukong, and Rek'Sai. Rek'Sai's mini rework hasn't quite received the fanfare that Riot expected. Along with a plethora of bug fixes, Rek'Sai has should now be able to do a bit more damage with her ultimate and Furious Bite (uE). Next, Wukong's Stone Skin (passive) is being modified. He can now hold 5 stacks, rather than 10, but they are doubly powerful. Additionally, he will now lose stacks gradually, rather than all at once. Kayn mains are gravitating solely to glass cannon builds, so Riot is giving some incentive to go towards dark side in the next patch. The Darkin form now has hugely increased healing capabilities. Lastly, Jarvan's armour growth has slightly gone up, while his Dragon Strike (Q)'s cooldown has gone down.

In the bot lane, Kog'Maw and Sivir are getting some attention after quite a while. Void Ooze (E) will now apply a bigger slow, and his Icathian Surprise should be able to catch up to enemies more easily. Sivir's base armour is getting a small increase.

Mid lane, Vex and Veigar are getting buffed in the damage department. Veigar's Baleful Strike (Q) is receiving an increased AP ratio, as is Vex's Doom 'n Gloom (passive). Additionally, Veigar's ultimate's cooldown has been decreased, so don't get too close to that mouse cursor.

Several junglers are also getting nerfed, including Bel'Veth, Evelynn, Brand, Nidalee, and Zac. Evelynn, Zac, and Nidalee should have slightly lowered damage outputs, while Bel'Veth should be less tankier. Brand's Pyroclasm (R) now has a longer cooldown, and lower damage.

In the bot lane, Senna and Vayne are getting some small adjustments. Vayne will be less mobile, while Senna's Piercing Darkness (Q) will have a lower AD scaling.

Finally, in the mid lane, AD Twisted Fate is getting reigned in by Riot. His passive, Stacked Deck, will now grant less attack speed and the bonus AD ratio is being hugely reduced to 25% from 75%.

Seraphine, Smolder, and Yorick are getting a mix of buffs and nerfs to help them fit better in the meta.

Overall, Seraphine's stats have gone up - her base attack damage, mana growth, mana regeneration growth, and base movement speed have all been increased. High Note (Q) deals more damage, but costs more mana at early levels, and takes longer to recharge. Surround Sound (W) has a lower mana cost, and an increased base Shield, but a lower movement speed AP ratio and a longer cooldown early on. Beat Drop (E) now has a scaling cooldown, rather than a flat 10 seconds, overall lower base damage, but a higher AP ratio. Finally, Encore (R)'s cooldown has been increased and AP ratio has been nerfed.

Yorick and Smolder received fewer changes. Smolder's Super Scorcher Breath (Q) will no longer deal true damage based off a target's maximum health. Instead, it will scale off Smolder's own bonus AD, AP, and Dragon Practice stacks. MMOOOMMMM! (R) has a low base damage, but a higher sweetspot bonus damage. The base healing has been reduced, but will now scale with bonus AD. As for Yorick, Mourning Mist (E) damage has been reduced, but the Eulogy of the Isles (R) Maiden will now be much tankier.

Major Item Changes

A couple of support upgrades - Dream Maker and Celestial Opposition - are getting some small buffs. The former's damage reduction and bonus damage will now scale upwards based off a user's level. The latter's Blessing of the Mountain passive has a lower cooldown, and an increased slow duration and intensity.

Heartsteel's Collosal Consumption base damage has been reduced, but the health ratio has been increased from 10% to 12%. Sunfire Cape's Health has been increased to 500, and it will now burn a little hotter.

A couple of items are getting small price increases, including Frozen Heart and Hextech Rocketbelt. Frozen Heart will now grant 5 less armour, and cost 100 gold more. Hextech Rocketbelt will also cost 100 gold more, but it will also grant you more ability power.

Solstice Sleigh is getting hit by a couple of nerfs. Going Sledding has an increased cooldown and a lower movement speed buff. Additionally, the health bonus from Going Sledding now scales with the user's level, rather than go off a user's maximum health.

All of these changes and more are coming on Match 6th, though some of the above changes could still be tweaked or even reconsidered entirely. Riot will let us know what exactly is going live closer to Patch 14.5’s debut, so be on the lookout for any announcements and future articles!
