Patch 14.8 PBE Preview

The MSI Patch - Patch 14.8 is less than one week away! Read on to get up to date on all the changes that are coming live next Wednesday, including a bundle of Blood Moon skins and a huge amount of buffs!

These changes appeared on PBE on the 3rd of April, but have been slowly shifting over the past week, and will continue to do so. As such, keep in mind that not all of these changes may make it to the live patch. If you’d like to check any of the following changes out before next Wednesday, hop on PBE and queue up!

New Cosmetics - Blood Moon

The blood moon has risen again, and three new champions have received a scary, scarlet-hued skin - Fiddlesticks, Zed, and Zyra. You can pick up each of these skins for 1350 RP a pop, and each skin will come with seven chroma options at 195 RP apiece.

Champion Changes

Buffs

Akali,  Draven, Galio, Graves, Hwei, Jarvan IV, Jhin, Kai’Sa, LeBlanc, Olaf, Ryze, Sylas, Thresh

In an effort to add some diversity into the jungle, a few different carry and AP junglers have gotten some buffs, such as Graves, Jarvan IV, Olaf, and Sylas. Graves will now have noticeably faster and noticeably more powerful auto attacks, which should help him clear faster and fight more effectively. Sylas and Olaf will now do more damage to monsters, while Jarvan IV’s passive does more damage.

Mid lane, Hwei, Akali, Galio, LeBlanc, and Ryze have all gotten various buffs. Hwei’s AP ratios have been increased. Galio’s movement speed has been increased by 5 and Winds of War (Q) now has a shorter cooldown. LeBlanc’s combos will be deadlier, with Sigil of Malice (Q) dealing more damage, and Distortion (W) being available more often. Ryze’s Rune Prison (W)’s slow has become more potent, and its cooldown has also been decreased. Finally, Akali’s base HP has been increased by 30.

In the bot lane, Draven, Jhin, and Kai’Sa have been buffed. Draven’s Spinning Axes (Q) will now deal more damage, as will Jhin’s Dancing Grenade (Q). Kai’Sa AD ratio on her Icathian Rain (Q) will also be going up. To encourage some playmaking at the upcoming MSI, perhaps, Thresh has received a small durability boost, with increased base armour and scaling in his magic resistance.

Nerfs

Azir, Briar, Zac, Zeri

This will be our MSI patch, so things are going to be shaken up a bit in the mid lane so we don’t see Azir in each match. Azir should have a tougher time in the early game when he’s in a tough match up. His base health regeneration has been reduced, and Arise! (W) will now do less damage.

With two important Zeri items getting buffed recently, Zeri has been doing better than anticipated. As such, the Spark of Zaun’s base HP has gone down by 30. Zac’s health has also been impacted, with his base HP regeneration shrinking to 5 from 8. Finally, Briar’s HP per level has been slightly reduced, while Head Rush (Q)’s range has been increased. Blood Frenzy (W) now provides her with less attack speed overall.

Adjustments

Mordekaiser, Skarner

Following his rework, Skarner is receiving a few different changes. His mana per level and mana regeneration per level have both been increased. Shattered Earth/Upheaval (Q) has been buffed in almost every aspect - the Boulder pickup time has been reduced, while the Boulder itself can be held longer, the damage has been increased and the mana cost lowered. Seismic Bastion (W), on the other hand, has been nerfed. Its mana cost has been increased while the damage has gone down.

Mordekaiser is also getting a mix of changes. Obliterate (Q) will now have a lower cooldown, while Death’s Grasp (E) will deal more damage. Most notably, Death Realm, Mordekaiser’s ultimate, can now no longer be cleansed.

System Changes

A few changes have hit the Baron pit - affecting both Baron Nashor themself and the Voidbrugs. Nashor received as straightforward buff, they will now pack a meaner punch as several different attacks now do more damage.

Voidgrubs got several changes. Firstly, the camp will now spawn at 6:00 minutes in rather than at the fifth minute mark. Touch of the Void, the team-wide buff granted by slaying Voidgrubs now deals more damage. Hunger of the Void, a second team-wide buff, is now granted after 4 stacks of Touch of the Void have been secured, rather than 5.
