TFT Inkborn Fables - 3 Comp Ideas to Try

Hankering to get in on the action with Inkborn Fables, but not really sure where to start? Try out one of these team comps and see how you do!

This comp features Alune as our main carry and takes advantage of the synergy of the Ghostly and Umbral Origins. Thanks to the high damage output from your Ghostly units and their spectres, it should be significantly easier to get to the Umbral execute threshold. Also, thematically, don't they seem like they belong?

Level Five

You’ll want to start this comp off by acquiring four Umbral units as soon as possible. Darius, Yorick, and Yone should be very easy to find, as all three are 1-cost units. Hopefully you’ll be able to acquire Alune - a 3-cost unit - quickly, as she will be the cornerstone of this team comp. To round out your level five comp, you can add another add a Behemoth, Duelist, Invoker, or a Reaper, though I'd personally go for an Invoker to give our carry some more mana. Kog’Maw should be easily attainable, but if you can get a Janna it’s even better. Once you’ve gotten two Umbral units, make sure you place your units on the moonlit hexes to take advantage of the execute passive.

Since Alune is our carry, make sure that you invest a lot in getting her upgraded and getting the best items for her that you can. Alune is a magic damage dealer, so try to grab as many Needlessly Large Rods and Tears of the Goddesses as you can, to build items such as Rabadon's Deathcap, Spear of Shojin, and Jeweled Gauntlet.

Yone is another carry unit for this comp, so you can also invest in items for him early on. You'll want attack speed and attack damage for him, so try to find B.F. Swords and Recurve Bows, then build such items as Guinsoo's Rageblade, Bloodthirster, and Deathblade.  For your tank, you'll want Warmog's Armour and Ionic Spark. Ideally, you'll want to give these items to Darius for now, though later Darius will be sold for a better unit. You can temporarily give the items to Yorrick too, but you’ll need to sell the Yorick with items to get the items back, which may not be ideal, since you do want to keep Yorick in your comp.

Level Eight+

As you gain gold and levels, you'll want to stay at 4 Umbral units but replace your Darius for Sylas, who will become your primary tank. If you had tank items on Darius, you can place what you had on Sylas now, or if you had nothing, try to get some tank items for him as soon as possible.

Next you'll want to get some Ghostly units on the board. You'll be able to find Shen and Aatrox fairly quickly as they are just 2-cost units. To get to four, you'll want to find Kayn and Morgana, which can be a little trickier. Now you've got 4 Ghosts and 4 Umbrals, and you're essentially done. What you want to focus on next is getting the right items on your carries and upgrading your units.

A Storyweaver comp centres around Kayle, the hero, who will spawn as an additional unit on your board once you've got 3 Storyweaver units. In order to make Kayle scale, you have to keep getting Storyweaver units, so when going with this comp, it might be best to simply go all in.

Level Five

Start off by getting Kayle as soon as possible. Garen and Sivir, two 1-cost units, should be the easiest to get early on. You can round out the three you need with Riven or Zyra relatively early still. Riven and Garen will act as your frontline for now, and Sivir and Kayle will be back. To round out level five, grab Zyra when available for the backline, and Jax for the Warden synergy with Garen.

Since you need every Storyweaver you can get, you'll need to upgrade all of your low cost units, especially Riven, Garen, and Sivir. The latter two will be your carries alongside Kayle, so start giving them a healthy supply of items. Sivir will want AD and Attack Speed (Guinsoo's Rageblade, Infinity Edge, Last Whisper) while Garen will want typical tank items like Bramble Vest, Warmog's Armour, and Dragon's Claw.

For magic damage, you'll want to invest in some AP items on your Zyra. Like the other low cost Storyweavers, you'll need to try to get Zyra upgraded so she can keep making an impact into late game.

Level Eight+

By level eight, you'll want to have added two more champions to your front line - Galio and Illaoi. Galio, a Warden Storyweaver will replace Jax from the early game, and he will be another key unit for you. Try to supply him with some tank items like Warmog's Armour, Gargoyle Stoneplate, and Dragon's Claw. Since he is a 4-cost unit, you won't need to upgrade him fully, but getting to level two is important. Illaoi has synergy with Galio, and also with Zoe, another 3-cost unit you should grab during the mid game.

Round out your comp with Irealia. With her, you'll now have 7 Storyweavers, making Kayle incredibly powerful. Irelia, in her own right, is also a very competent carry. Try to upgrade her once for a massive increase in influence.

Getting 10 Storyweavers is possible, but difficult. There are only 7 Storyweaver units, so you'll need to get your hands on a whopping three Emblems. A Gold Augment, Storyweaver Crest, will come with one Emblem. Wandering Trainer I and Wandering Trainer II, a Gold and Prismatic Augment respectively, will spawn a Training Dummy with two or three, respectively, Emblems, but they are random. Otherwise you'll need to craft them yourself with each requiring a Golden Spatula and a Chain Vest.

Another all-in sort of comp, this one takes advantage of the strong buff your team will get from the Heavenly Origin. All six Heavenly units will come together to give your team huge stat bonuses.

Level Five

You should be able to snag four Heavenly units by level five without trouble. Malphite, Kha'Zix, and Neeko are all low-cost units, while you'll need a tiny bit of luck to get Soraka and get your fourth Heavenly unit. You can round out with another Altruist, Arcanist, Behemoth, or Reaper, but in our example we added another easy-to-acquire Behemoth for some added durability in the early game.

Like in the Storyweaver set, you’ll want all the Heavenly traits as you can get, so you’ll need to invest in each of your Heavenly units. That means even the low cost ones, otherwise, they can struggle against innately stronger, higher level units in the late game.

However, your primary focus should be on Neeko and Soraka, and you’ll want to get these fully upgraded as soon as possible. Unlike in League, Neeko is a tank, and Soraka is a magic damage powerhouse in TFT, so build them accordingly. Neeko can use the quintessential tank items - Warmog's Armor, Sunfire Cape, and Dragon's Claw. Soraka will use the usual AP options - Spear of Shojin, Seraph's Embrace, Jeweled Gauntlet, and similar items.

Level Eight+

As you near the late game you'll want to pick up the final two Heavenly Units available - Qiyana, who should be easy to find, and Wukong, which may take some time. When you have all six, all of your units will have a significant boost to their Crit Chance, Armour, Magic Resistance, Health, AD, AP, and attack speed.

Like Malphite and Kha'Zix, Qiyana is a relatively low-cost unit, so you'll ideally want to get her and Malphite, at least, to level three, so they can be competent frontlines. Wukong should be upgraded once as well, and you should give him some nice AD items like Bloodthirster, Titan's Resolve, and Hand of Justice, as he will now be one of your three best units.

To round out your comp, we're going to be adding two Altruists to complement our Soraka carry - Riven, and Rakan. Rakan will be a capable unit from the get-go, being a 5-star unit, while Riven will be somewhat weak. However, with three Altruists in your comp, your team will overall be much tankier.

There are only six Heavenly units, but there is a bonus for having seven in play. Unlike with Storyweavers, just getting one extra unit is a fairly simple task. Craft a Heavenly Emblem by combining a Golden Spatula with a Negatron Cloak, or pick up the Heavenly Crest/Crown Augments.

We hope you were inspired by these team compositions! Now you're ready to hop into queue and try out the brand new TFT set.
