so I work at a gas station and if you haven't read it yet in the off topic section I wrote a thread about people and their stupidity to read an out of order sign on the cooler, what else could top that. well I have a new story one that I hope you all can enjoy.

It starts off with me getting to work at around 6am, getting every thing set up for the day and doing inventory reports ugh, anyway I open the doors at around 7:00am or somewhere around there. I don't get a customer until around 7:45am, business is dead in the morning. then I get one "excuse me but the pump told me to come see you" I think to my self "**** there credit card probably looks like **** and the pumps cant read it." "We can try setting up a prepay inside" I say, for this customer that was an okay and viable option for others they want a rock solid explanation as to why the pump cant read there credit card so here is the list

*Your card looks like **** and therefore the pump cant read
*You entered the wrong pin number
*You slide the card to fast or slow
*Your bank account is in bad standing
*You pressed the gift card key instead of debit
*You pressed Credit when you should have pressed debit
*The Station currently has every pump in use and you just got kicked from the system hang up and try again in a minute
*The pump took your card you just took to long selecting a fuel grade and the pump canceled the transaction, Happens when people are taking their gas cap off and talking on the phone
*the pump you are trying to use has an out of order baggie on the gas nozzle just look down and go to a different pump. happens a lot
*and the most common one of all your card is upside down backwards or both!

and that's the short list,
so as you can see there are lots of reasons it's not taking your card,
anyway other day by 8:30 I had only about 16 customers and all 16 of them got the error message and to come inside some where nice about it, others thought I had summoned them when the screen at the pump said "please see fuel attendant" one guy came in and say "why are you calling me in here I just want my $%^&* GAS!" trust me the last thing I want to do is call people into the gas station who act like this. anyway after this has been going on for a while I look into the computer and the problem is on the pumps, it would take there information but not send it to the bank, or where ever the hell it goes I don't know, anyway the problem isn't the general populace and their credit cards. so I grab the cones BIG TRAFFIC cones and block off the fuel station and began shutting down every pump to do a system resist, do you think that's going to keep people from trying to get there gas the answer is NO!!! even with the cones up people are still driving into the fuel station. and weaving their way around the cones, they see em. So now I'm calling tech support to see if they needed a software update because the online systems had a problem connecting to the bank system. Turns out that's what the problem was, while on the phone I see a guy out on pump five trying to get the deactivated pump to read his card, his girlfriend was also in the passenger seat smoking, throwing her still lit butt out the window just to light up another. I was pissed, you don't go into a gas station that has been barricaded off and smoke. the guy comes inside and starts yelling at me "HEY WHY THE HELL ARNT THE PUMPS TAKING MY CREDIT CARDS" yeah this guy was out there for a while not to say this pump is facing the exit so there is no way he didn't see the cones, so I reply back "Well sir all of the pumps are down due to a software issue and that's why I put up the traffic cones barricading the entrance and exits That You Drove Past!" I was a little rude to him but it was his response that made me write this blog because it made me laugh so hard. "WELL BOY CONES ARNT WORTH **** YOU SHOULD HAVE PUT UP A SIGN!!!" flipping me off and swearing profanity under his breath he drove off in a rage.

and That's my random story of the week,
don't get me wrong but I do love my job it's full time and decent pay more then minimum wage so that's the only reason I haven't quit yet.
