You've got the right idea. I also use Kage's lucky pick in my build because the extra money plus the active on Deathfire Grasp are amazing. I think you're dead wrong when you say this build can't carry or go solo mid. Anyone who's interested should check out my guide.

Uh, you shouldn't have to rely on kage's pick to get gold as taric. Not ever. Like you mention, you don't leave your lane, and therefore should be killing loads of minions and destroying towers. In the second build you should go for AA instead of Abysall Specter. And potentially go for another AA instead of ROA. Your choice really.

Also, images would help. You can go ((typename)) and then just replace it with square brackets if you like so ((Taric)) ends up like Taric
