Hello, nice guide! I used Rakan a lot and I don't really "need" to read guides but I'm often curious on what others think/recommend! I saw that you max out his Q and E second, but why not his W? I usually max W > E > Q. Do you prefer to poke with his Q or you're doing it "only" for having it up sooner and heal?

Thank you for giving us a good detail on why to rune those runes, I usually go Guardian because of the tanky-ness and shield but Spellbook goes gives those bonuses and more, although I'm already a 7 Mastery Rakan thank you!

With the 250% base mana regen from watchers, redemption, and ardent shouldn't athene's unholy grail be an item at least for consideration? It gives a very sizable amount of AP which can allow your e to protect your carries for the duration of redemption's buildup.

Rakan is my favourite support, because he is so glamourus (i dont kwow how to say "glamuroso" in english, sorry, its because i am from Argentina and there we talk spanish) I like this guide, because it helped me to manage to use rakan better than before. Thanks for taking the time to write and perfectionate this guide ^^ Continue that way, i would like to see more guides like this one

This is by far one of my favorite champs. This guide has really found a great way to play him in the current meta. Today, I'm pretty sure they even used this build in the NA LCS. It was a Rakan and Xayah duo. I can't remember the team atm, but Rakan used the Unsealed Spellbook so well; switching between TP and Exhaust. Great Job on this guide. Please continue to publish and update.

Thank you for taking the time to say such kind words. Will do my best to update all my guides as often as I can as the meta is constantly shifting atm! <3

Glacial Augment isn't bad but, I find that Guardian and Inspiration is a better combo than Glacial Augment and Resolve. I'm not saying your runes are bad because, to each their own, I just like the extra shielding from Guardian. I'd love to hear your thought on Summon Aery with Rakan, I've tested it a few times with varying results

Awesome guide! Provides great insight on Rakan. I just got off a game with Rakan where i didn't do that good (not at all XD) so i came on here to make sure it doesn't happen again, fortunately your guide is great and I'm glad to say I'm sure it'll help me next game! :)

Heya, nice guide. I'd like to share something, as I struggled in lane for quite a while until I started optimizing. Let me know what you think. *Disclaimer, still plat 5/climbing pleb, so much worse than you. But this feels better.

I personally don't like upgrading the coin to eye of the oasis. Even though it seems okay for 250g (750g in my case). Unlike eye of the watcher, you don't gain any extra passives from having it, just the 10% cdr and measly 200hp. I prefer the following build path (leave coin as starting, don't upgrade to nomad):

- 800 Sightstone
- 300 boots (not sure when to upgrade yet, large gold sink)
- 400 ruby crystal (150hp)
- 800 idol (10% cdr, some mana. I've found blue coins mana is usually plenty)
- 850 Redemption. (10 cdr, hp, mana regen, stronger shield, 120s cd heal)*
- 500 Nomad (5% cdr, more mana regen, skill)
- 2200 Locket (60 mr, 30 armor, 90s cd)
- 800 Ruby Sightstone (500hp, +1 ward, 24s off redemption (96s, from 120), 18s off locket (72s, from 90))
- 800 chain vest (40 armor)
- 750 Talisman (optional?)(5 armor, up to 20% ms near towers, 40% ms active at 48s cd/60 if before ruby)

*I did some testing in practice tool, and starting coin, i got 650g in about 14:30, lvl 10/11 starting coin, vs. (cheated for extra $$) 12:00 - 12:30, lvl 8/9 starting nomad. that's about 45gpm vs 52gpm (less cause you need to back, and will likely lose 1 or 2 waves). The 500g (or 750 if you upgrade to eye) investment was about the difference in sitting on components vs completed redemption (600g full components, 850g if still on ruby crystal + idol). Upgrading to eye gives 50 hp, 1 ward, and some regen which I've never felt I needed.

Upgrading to Nomad after redemption, or when around 600g+ will give the skill level, which feels like a larger power spike than waiting around 6min in lane with -150hp vs 5% cdr.

Late game/full inv. i'd sell eye for ruby anyways, because you gain 300hp and 42s/54s (with coin) from high impact actives. This feels smoother for me.

I also always make sure to have room for control ward. If needed I'll sell biscuits for it.

EDITS 1: typos.

One of the important reasons for an Oasis is because of the 4th ward. It is very common for you to have a ward taken out by red trinket / control ward and then you are left with 2/3 wards on the map. Going to ruby sight stone has always felt clunky and useless, and yes, I will mention again, the bag slot it takes is very annoying.

But thank you Gimmi for your length theorycrafting, and taking the time to comment <3

Yeah, that extra ward is really nice. I don't mind it so much on red side, since I can usually* cover both river and tribrush with 1 ward. If you want anything tested, lemme know. Otherwise, thanks for the great guide and happy climbing.

EDit: had the funniest game with the build... 4 adc + rakan vs a legit team comp (except their supp groot built full ap), ended game with a really solid S for carrying it hah!
