I personally don't like upgrading the coin to eye of the oasis. Even though it seems okay for 250g (750g in my case). Unlike eye of the watcher, you don't gain any extra passives from having it, just the 10% cdr and measly 200hp. I prefer the following build path (leave coin as starting, don't upgrade to nomad):
- 800 Sightstone
- 300 boots (not sure when to upgrade yet, large gold sink)
- 400 ruby crystal (150hp)
- 800 idol (10% cdr, some mana. I've found blue coins mana is usually plenty)
- 850 Redemption. (10 cdr, hp, mana regen, stronger shield, 120s cd heal)*
- 500 Nomad (5% cdr, more mana regen, skill)
- 2200 Locket (60 mr, 30 armor, 90s cd)
- 800 Ruby Sightstone (500hp, +1 ward, 24s off redemption (96s, from 120), 18s off locket (72s, from 90))
- 800 chain vest (40 armor)
- 750 Talisman (optional?)(5 armor, up to 20% ms near towers, 40% ms active at 48s cd/60 if before ruby)
*I did some testing in practice tool, and starting coin, i got 650g in about 14:30, lvl 10/11 starting coin, vs. (cheated for extra $$) 12:00 - 12:30, lvl 8/9 starting nomad. that's about 45gpm vs 52gpm (less cause you need to back, and will likely lose 1 or 2 waves). The 500g (or 750 if you upgrade to eye) investment was about the difference in sitting on components vs completed redemption (600g full components, 850g if still on ruby crystal + idol). Upgrading to eye gives 50 hp, 1 ward, and some regen which I've never felt I needed.
Upgrading to Nomad after redemption, or when around 600g+ will give the skill level, which feels like a larger power spike than waiting around 6min in lane with -150hp vs 5% cdr.
Late game/full inv. i'd sell eye for ruby anyways, because you gain 300hp and 42s/54s (with coin) from high impact actives. This feels smoother for me.
I also always make sure to have room for control ward. If needed I'll sell biscuits for it.
EDITS 1: typos.
But thank you Gimmi for your length theorycrafting, and taking the time to comment <3
EDit: had the funniest game with the build... 4 adc + rakan vs a legit team comp (except their supp groot built full ap), ended game with a really solid S for carrying it hah!
