I actually just did a few games where I leveled up Ki Burst first and waited to level Broken Wings and Valor.Damage output at first was increased by a lot, so you were right about that lol. I'll make those changes to the skill levels.

I can't really say much about Atma's Impaler yet as both games were pretty terrible (just one of those times where our team coulnd't get it together). I'll keep at it, a game or two isn't enough to tell anyway. :)

My main is actually Karma, so Riven was a step into the dark for me lol. I've gotten better, but I'm always looking for ways to improve. :)

Ki Burst does the most damage by far. Broken Wings isn't really a true damage dealer, think of it more as setting up your passive, and the knockback at the end, on top of adding mobility. Even at max level, Broken Wings doesn't really do that much damage overall, it's all about the passive.

Yeah, this build is definitely tailored to a really safe playstyle. Unfortunately, Riven needs an edge at the very beginning to lead through the game or she'll have a very average mid-game to late game.

Trust me, you won't regret Atma's Impaler. :) As a general rule, you'll get more damage with it with Frozen Mallet over Warmog's Armor due to the built-in damage and the slow is great.

Sure thing! I main Riven and just made my own guide, so I'm all up to date and in the fervor of trying to get better.

Hmm. That's a good point, I make sure Ki Burst is always highest level because it seems to do the most damage. I alternate between Ki Burst and Broken Wings because Broken Wings I assume would only tickle the enemy until you get some levels on it. I'll definitely try your way before I rule it out. :)

By my own admission, I'm not a very good melee player lol. This is probably why I struggled with Riven at first and why I started building Warmog's Armor and taking Regrowth Pendant first. Since I've gotten better, I sometimes don't build it at all, though I do make sure to always grab a Frozen Mallet. I'll make note of it as well. I would also like to test Atma's Impaler with both Warmog's Armor and Frozen Mallet.

Atma's Impaler is currently listed as an alternate item after selling Wriggle's Lantern simply because I haven't gotten the chance to try it yet. You've made a good case for it, I'm just loathe to go off word alone.

I removed Zeke's Harbinger because I do agree that generally it'll be completely wasted. I have picked it up in the past when needed because no one else would, but generally you get decent teams and won't feel the need to.

And seriously, thank you for the help!

I was looking at the skill order and you alternate between Broken Wings and Ki Burst. Definitely focus on Ki Burst first instead of alternating.

If it work for you, then that's good. Regrowth Pendant is always such a defensive item that it doesn't really match Riven. Just wait until level 3, get Valor and you can take anyone on 1v1. Don't go for the immediate gank at level 1, the minions will eat you alive. Even if you can't take on anyone, the harass from Valor -> Ki Burst -> Broken Wings away is pretty good and they'll never catch you. Boots really help there.

[Atma's Impaler]] should definitely not be an alternate item. This guide says you have 3582 health, I'm assuming without Warmog's Armor stacks, and that equates out to an extra 71.64 damage!

Just noticed you also build Frozen Mallet and Warmog's Armor, I'd say pick one or the other. A lot of people play Riven as an off-tank when that's not what she's designed for, she's a straight up assassin. In my guide, I just take Frozen Mallet and Atma's Impaler and I have excellent survivability with just the one health item, and the damage to take anyone out.

For the Zeke's Harbinger aura, again, it's wasted on Riven. I get that it's good for the team, but let someone else get it. A wasted item slot, in my opinion.

I do appreciate this guide though, let's be clear. I like that you've explained each lane, and most of the items. Just a little formatting and you're golden. :)

Skill order is actually proper, Ki Burst is what I level up first, though it's not the ability I take first.

The Regrowth Pendant actually seems to work pretty well for early game. I've tried Doran's Blade and some boots and pots, but I always have problems with getting in, unloading, and getting out alive. If I do get out, I wind up missing out on xp because I hae to go back to base. Not to mention I generally like to rush a Warmog's.

I haven't used Atma's Impaler, though I do recommend it as an alternative item along with Last Whisper. I'll give it a try today in a game too. I've listed Stark's Fervor simply for the aura. It has helps turn the tides in games before where my team was struggling in team fights. I'll clear that up a bit more as it's not an item I pick up except in certain circumstances.

And actually, I myself question those points in Vigor ... I didn't realize I'd put those there when I copied the mastery build over from my in game one. I think it's a mastery build I got off another guide and threw together quickly to start some games after the new masteries came out. I'll fix it up.

As a whole, I'll clean it up a bit and try to make it a bit more clear. This entire guide was done a little hurriedly yesterday during Thanksgiving lol.

Everything looks pretty good, but let's really step it up, eh?

First off, I notice that you start off with Regrowth Pendant for some sustain. Personally, I much prefer the use of Health Potions and maybe some boots. The sustain from Regrowth Pendant is really minimal for Riven since you really want to establish early dominance. Leave the pendant for people like Cho'Gath.

Secondly, I don't see an Atma's Impaler. It's foolish to get that much health and practically waste it by not utilizing the free damage.

The build order is kind of all over the place and not very concise. The item order is kind of out of whack and doesn't seem to really follow a logical flow.

Zeke's Harbinger is just about wasted on Riven. Riven is a purely combo based champion, and she shouldn't really be auto-attacking. The base attack speed is more than enough to effectively use your passive off of.

Skill order isn't proper either. It's the general consensus to level up Ki Burst first at level 2, 4, etc. Broken Wings doesn't really do a whole lot of damage, so it's best to save it.

Runes and masteries look pretty good, though I question the points in Vigor . Maybe add a rune explanation and mastery explanation section? Defend all your choices! And, if possible, add some different builds, and situational item choices for different game types.

Overall, pretty solid, but there are some gaps here and there. Fix some of these and you'll have my vote. :)
