Several issues I had with this guide: imo, I don't think Garen requires a quicksilver sash since his Decisive Strike already has a built-in cleanse. I also find the Sunfire Aegis slightly redundant since it's passive is very easily countered by magic resistance, and no sane person would get magic penetration on Garen; imo there are better 1v1 tank items like, say, Randiun's omen. You also suggest to build most of your tanky items first, which will severely mitigate your early game damage, which Garen needs (though you do say that you need to be flexible in your build, your guides build is meant to be a concise summary of your opinion of the best all around build).

The reason I take Judgment first (as detailed in my guide here) is because it allows for more overall damage then Decisive Strike in the first exchange. With Decisive Strike you get one quick hit and at rank 1 a 1.5 second speed buff, while Judgment coupled with your starting boots allows you to damage them while they are running. If you start Dorans Blade, or are playing a more support role, then Decisive Strike might be a better option for you.

Sunfire Aegis is a VERY Viable option, I usually play Garen top, and more times then not I am against another strong AD champion. The Sunfire Aegis gives you extreme tankiness, and also ups your damage output by 20-40 each second(provided they don't have more then 100 Magic Resist)
