wrong runes and skill order, to start.

Wow, u getting a lot of hate for this build. I am new to LoL but i think this is in fact a very powerful build, esp for ranked play. I play ryze pretty much exclusively and my build that i made gets me to have 850+ AP with 3500+ mana and ~175 AD by 45 mins (go easy on me if u think this is dumb or something) and i can steamroll enemys as long as i play smart and safe in the early/mid game, and have decent teammates. But i think this build/masteries/runes, shows me that ive been playing ryze all wrong, or at least not optimal. It is still pretty strong before 45 mins but it now seems like mine can take too long. I was just unfamiliar if it was better to build the mana more or the AP more. I like to think my summoner combo works to be much safer in your average game where u can have all kinds of different enemys and allies. And i DO buy wards! But here is my runes: full greater mark AttSp, full greater seal of armor, full greater glyph of AP, and the 3 AP quints. (shut up i like it ok??? stop laughing) Masteries: same 9 that u have as offense, plus mental force, spellsword, archmage, to executioner, with 2 points in havoc and 1 point in summoners wrath just to get me there. I get 1 point in vampirism, with 1 point in mastermind, and 1 point in improved recall, with 3 points each in meditation and expanded mind (i used to have much more in the utility but switched to offense, i recognize that my utility may be incorrect). Which gives me 21 0 9. The reason why i do like my setup, is because it makes me pretty strong from the start. I found that ryze is hard to play early game bc just cant dish out the damage. With this, it gives me +34 AP at the start (+26 in the runes and 6 from Offense mastery plus %5 AP on top of it all, plus %5 when enemy is below %50 health) and that can make the Q a fairly powerful shot if i play it safe and keep pecking at them. Along with 13 armor and %15 AttSp, gives ryze a chance to get kills in the early game and to start accelerating faster, imo. I have played 6 ranked games so far and been a helpful participant for 4 wins. Usually im mid but i understand that ryze can go top too, solo if supported to level 5 or 6 (in regular play). I catch a jungle whenever i get a chance, and usually try to tele-gank, along with ignite. I know im supposed to use images and stuff but i just got directed to this site and made an account so i could post this comment. I honestly think my setup is pretty decent for the games i usually get in. I am always eager to learn more though. I think ryze can be a tricky character. Runes are awful. No one will read the guide since it looks boring and the cheatsheet is a mess. I overall do agree on the masteries.

Imo bad masteries

Didn't work for me at all, you need sustain mate to keep you in the positive score. Also, 7000 mana i think is unnecessary, you can invest in much better and useful stats than just mana. Remember, Ryze has no escape routes except for his starting 0.75 second snare which is pretty much nothing when people are chasing you, especially when you get ganked and have not much armour or magic resist. So sorry mate, im not convinced that this is a good build.

Ryze can be an ungodly mana tank and deal out tons of damage, but 3 ROAs doesn't maximize his potential, unless you are able to get a full 20 on all 3, which is very very doubtful. Even then, a game lasting that long would benefit more from Abyssal Scepter or Void Staff to negate the MR they have built.

Dual cata wastes the unique passive from one of them. I agree with buying early Sapphires, but turn them into Glacial Shroud and Sheen. Better to build a more diverse inventory, i.e. Iceborn Fist, Frozen Heart, etc. 3 ROAs give no CDR, so you never cap at 40, which limits you.

Tear first is better to get stacks. Cata should only go first if you are getting rolled in lane.

3 Rod of Ages is extremely wrong.
And You need probably Intelligence and Mastermind Because ryze need cap atleast 40% cooldown reduction.
If you going use Ignite then you need Summoner's Wrath .
Dosen't seems you even level 30 or tested your build and i don't like the masteries either
You need Archange's staff ITS ****ING BEST ITEM TO RYZE
Learn to make a guide and use BBcoodings to your guide and it's short, you need more magic resistance like magic resistance runes and maybe movement speed runes instead mana as ryze need high movement speed so he can survive
there's alot more i can tell but don't have feeling for it.
