Best Supports for Kalista?

Through MUCH (And I mean A LOT) of trial and Error. I think I found some of the best supports that go well w/Kalista. Since before Kalista even came out, I've been reading up on her. A pure ADC? Who can toss people and share Gold without a Relic Shield? People who read her, who bought her, have almost ALWAYS had a Leona with them. But I like to experiment.

Buddy of mine got her, and the very 1st Support I did? Nami. Needless to say that idea didn't work out very well. So, we went down the list. The best choices I've found? Alister, Braum, Volibear (I know, he's not a support but he has a nice slow), Maokai, and Leona. Granted I don't have ALL the Supports, but I have a majority and I've played w/other possible Champs who can fill the role. All the Supports I picked? Tanks.

The really good ones have a sustain in lane. Be it Life Steal, HP Regen, or Spell Vamp naturally built into them. ('Cept Leona and Braum, they're just REALLY good.) This is even before you buy any items for them. W…

A free ticket with Darius

I've been playing Darius top a whole lot to get back into top lane and it has been going pretty well. It seems like in most lanes he has a nice advantage since he deals mixed damage and can capitalize on mistakes pretty well. With Tiamat he is able to clear waves pretty well and with Black cleaver he gets a large chunk of armor ignored. He lacks a real escape and his team fights are a bit odd but Darius is a pretty easy-to-play champ.

So three favorable match-ups that I've had?

Wukong

Wukong has to be one of the champs which gets the lower end of the stick on this lane every single time. He has a strong engage and can poke you down but . If he does his Nimbus Strike (E) into a Decoy (W) then Darius can simply spin to gain vision of him and land a successful pull. Wukong really can't trade too well against Darius and he can get zoned if Darius places himself between the farm and Wu.

Garen

I've read a few forums that say if Garen is played well this can turn into a skill match-up but…

The Road Not Taken

"So what position do you want to play?" TeamSushi asked. "You can be Top, Mid or Jungle."
"I will need to think about it." I said. I mostly said that because I didn't want to think about it, but I knew I had to. To bad "Fill" isn't a lane. This choice is the promise, the commitment to preparing yourself for the battle. You pick that lane and promise your team you will not lose it, you will work that lane until you can help out in the team fights and push objectives to the win.
  • MID would be my first choice since it is my most comfortable lane. I play mages mostly. Something I like about AP based champions, the utility, the mobility.
  • TOP would be my second choice. I have been practicing it lately. Its a tough lane, an island, on your own for the most part. Boring to some. If you need help from your jungler it takes away from the help your bot late needs to scale faster and carry the team.

Thoughts on ELO Climbing

Now I've been in Gold for about a year now and for the last year I realise that the most assured method to win your games is to simply carry your games regardless of what roles you play except of Support of course, but back in year 2012 I went up to Gold 5 and back to Silver 5 just to prove my point and ultimately as much as it disgust me, and I cannot deny that climbing takes a little bit of luck, but I'm not talking about an AFK or a Troll or an Unskilled player, I'm looking at it as an overall team fight perspective, because most of the time We do not win our games simply because of poor conquest in objectives or map control and that's when I realise that by simply saying "Carry your team" is very shallow-minded. LoL is clearly more than just that.

I started out in Bronze 5 last year 2013 Season 4, my first game was with a Vi in the Jungle, I can remember it was a win game because I won like 10~20 games in a row and my match history for the entire week was just filled with wins. Bu…

Don't be a Walter

I enjoy playing League. I have been playing since season 2 and have seen the community at its worst and best. I think RIOT has been doing alot to keep the competitive and the casual players entertained through the expanded game modes and holiday/event modes.

I have been playing ARAMs and Dominion almost exclusively since mid way through season 3. I just found it more relaxing not having super raging players pick apart every mistake. Yes its good to get constructive criticism, but if you have played any kind of ranked and normal games you know the kind of raging I am talking about.

That said I will play normal and ranked with friends that I trust and respect. It made me a bit leary to get the invite to this competition but I have played a few games with the Team Sushi brothers and I respect their play and criticism. My advice to anyone playing league, and to myself included is to not be a Walter! What does that mean? Read this dialogue from one of the best movies of all time, "The Big…

Silver Bolts, Chasing them all the way! (Jingle...

Chorus:
_
Silver Bolts, Silver Bolts!
Chasing them all the way!
Oh what fun I have getting lots of kills on you!

*repeat Chorus*

Going out of lane, getting ready for the gank!
Going to the bushes, and going to land my Q and ult!
You won't be safe, oh I can't let you out!
My silver bolts will seal the deal, oh!

*repeat Chorus 2x*

No more guide.

Well, this is the first time I've been on MOBAFire in a long time. While it has not changed, I have. I've found myself less inclined to teach people about the possibilities of non meta picks, and have decided to leave the teaching to people like Solwolf. I will remain a practitioner. My favorite champions have changed, as has my play style. In the future, I may decide to make a guide of a more orthodox champion build, most likely for Twisted Fate or Zed. Until then, I will lurk in the shadows.

Daily Ranked #004

Promo-Time

Yes itĀ“s promo time today. I donĀ“t tell you to which divison ;)

A few words on my opinion about hidden ELO and divisons. When I started to play ranked there were already the new divisions in place, so I canĀ“t speak about how it was before. But I can understand that Riot took this step. Too many people are just looking on a single performance score and have serious problems with loosing ELO points and descending in the ladder.

But, somehow, the divisions did not really solve this problem fully:
  • You still get frustrated if you fall through a whole division or 2 in 1 or 2 days
  • At least in the lower tiers you get remarkably many points for a win, and also you loose a high amount of points for a loss. Why it is like that?
  • The promotion to a new division can be awfully hard, and, if lost, you need again at least 5 games or so won in a row to finally climb

Did I miss a point here? Not sure...
So I personally got really frustrated many times now. And I sometimes think that …

Me writing not so much

So I have noticed that I have written so much yet posted so little, which consciously came to mind just a while ago. I have been writing a few well-thought out responses to some forum questions that really caught my eye and made me think, as well as continuing a guide that was for season 4 but I will have to adjust again for season 5 (Trundle Top and Jungle). I also will writing about my take on the new jungle which will be done shortly (1-3 days).

As for me playing league, I have been playing a lot of Lucian AD carry and a few different Top laners, most notable Darius I have also went back to try a few mid laners I played before and get a feel for the lane but I was reminded of the reason I don't like mid lane too much. I plan on writing about both my good and bad experiences with different in the upcoming.
