UPDATE COMING SOON!
Hello everyone! My name is Carry Clown. I'm a Diamond 4 Shaco Main and I'm also a YouTuber who uploads edited clips and gameplays. Feel free to visit my channel if you want: www.youtube.com/c/carryclown - But why do I like Shaco that much? It's pretty simple to explain: He's (in my opinion) the most fun champion to play in the game, can do some neat tricks and snowball the game very easy. Alright, let's get started, shall we?
Note: Since this is my first guide ever, I'm pretty sure you will find mistakes. Please tell me about them, so I can correct them! Thanks a lot!
Note²: This guide isn't completly done! I will for sure add more things like item customization, match-ups, videos, ganking routes and even more!
In general, Shaco is a sneaky jungler with a lot of counterjungling, ganking and solo-killing potential. But every champion has their strengths and weaknesses.
|+ Strong ganks with Deceive, a passive slow of Two-Shiv Poison and a fear of Jack In The Box if done correctly.||- Squishy until you get tanky items like Dead Man's Plate or Spirit Visage.|
|+ Good jungle clear without loosing much HP (if done correctly).||- Revealed by True Vision ( Sweeping Lens, Vision Ward, Sonic Wave, Tempest, Frost Queen's Claim).|
|+ Good Splitpusher with Hallucinate and Ravenous Hydra.||- Countered by items like Zhonya's Hourglass or Guardian Angel.|
|+ Almost impossible to catch because of an invisible flash every 11 seconds (9,3 seconds if you already have 15% CDR) with Deceive.||- Needs a bit of practice to be 100% efficient with Shaco's Kit (good timing with Hallucinate, mind games, etc.).|
|+ Pretty funny to play.|
Shaco has a very tricky kit compared to other champions. You have many ways to escape, start a teamfight, getting picks and much more. But how do you make your abilities efficient?
Shaco deals 20% bonus damage when striking an enemy from behind with his basic attacks or Two-Shiv Poison.
With this passive, you basically get free damage when attacking an enemy from behind, which shouldn't be too hard with Deceive. You can slightly see a difference in late game with fully maxed Q and 3-4 damage items. Please, always make use of this powerful passive. When counterjungling, when assassinating a squishy, always!
Shaco instantly blinks to the target location and stealths for up to 3.5 seconds, also causing his next basic attack within 6 seconds to critically strike for bonus critical damage (140/160/180/200/220%).
This ability is pretty much your way to safety, setting up a gank, initiating a teamfight and much more. Be careful when using this ability in early game, since this ability has a high cooldown and high mana costs until you max it.
Jack In The Box (W)
Shaco summons a box at the target location that stealths after a 2-second delay and lasts for up to 60 seconds. If an enemy springs the trap, it opens and causes surrounding enemies to turn and flee while it attacks nearby enemies for up to 5 seconds.
Boxes are pretty important for Shaco, you can use them for a faster jungle clear, as wards, as an escape route or simply for ganking. They are way more useful than you think!
Two-Shiv Poison (E)
PASSIVE: While Two-Shiv Poison is not on cooldown, Shaco's basic attacks poison his targets, slowing them for 2 seconds and reducing the attack speed of minions and monsters.
ACTIVE: Shaco throws a dagger at the target enemy, dealing magic damage and slowing them for 3 seconds.
Two-Shiv Poison is a point-and-click ability which deals some neat base damage, mixed with 100% of your bonus AD and 100% of your AP. It also slows the enemy, so you can keep up with someone, if he is too fast for you. Use it between your auto attacks.
Shaco vanishes for 0.5 seconds, then creates a clone of himself that lives for up to 18 seconds and explodes upon its death, dealing magic damage to all enemies around it.
Hallucinate is a very easy way to survive spells like Requiem of Karthus or Ace in the Hole of Caitlyn. You can use the clone to zone someone, 1v1'ing and scouting. Or simply just distract people and secure kills.
Jack In The Box (W):
Two-Shiv Poison (E):
Greater Mark of Lethality
Greater Seal of Armor
Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction
Greater Glyph of Attack Speed
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed
Greater Mark of Armor Penetration - You can swap it with Greater Mark of Attack Damage, but I personally like the armor penetration version, because you will get some incredible burst on squishy targets who run with 60-70 armor in late game (ADCs). Especially, if you already have some armor penetration in masteries and addiontally, a The Black Cleaver or a Duskblade of Draktharr.
Greater Seal of Armor - Pretty simple to explain: You are a jungler and you get damaged by jungle creeps who deal physical damage. Also, it helps against enemies, of course.
Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction - You can swap it with Greater Glyph of Magic Resist, if the enemy has a lot of magic damage. But I personally like the cooldown reduction version, because cooldown reduction is always helpful. More Deceives = more kills, more escapes, etc.
Greater Glyph of Attack Speed - Just to fill up the 3 empty glyph slots. Attack speed is really helpful in jungle and in duels, of course.
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage - Attack Damage profits from armor penetration and the other way round. Just some early damage to get better through jungle.
Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed - As already described, it helps you to get faster through jungle and dueling.
Fury - Free attack speed!
Double Edged Sword - More damage in melee!
Natural Talent - Free stats for late mid/late game. Two-Shiv Poison and Hallucinate both scale with 100% AP, so 15 AP at level 18 is pretty nice. Not forgetting to mention that free 10 AD at level 18 helps you to burst squishies. (I didn't take Vampirism , because you already get 12% life steal from Ravenous Hydra).
Oppressor - Extra 2.5% damage if the enemy has impaired movement (basically free damage because of the passive slow of Two-Shiv Poison). Bounty Hunter seems like a better option for Shaco, but you don't want to stretch the game into 30+ minutes to be fully efficient.
Savagery - Better jungle clear (especially in early game).
Assassin - Again, free damage if you are alone (very good for picking a farming ADC on bot lane for example).
Merciless - Once again, and again more damage if the enemy is below 40% HP.
Dangerous Game - Better than Bandit , so I take this for getting free HP after securing a kill.
Precision - Penetration for your spells and auto attacks! Take this and you will have around 30 flat armor penetration with runes, masteries and Duskblade of Draktharr for example.
Stormraider's Surge - This is, what makes my build a bit 'special'. I like this a lot more than Thunderlord's Decree , because you just need 30% of your enemy's max HP to proc this, which isn't very hard against squishies. Very good for counterjungling, so you can keep up with the enemy even if he flashes away (or simply to run out of a teamfight after killing someone).
This is the end! Thank you all reading my guide, I hope you have learned something! I'm sure, you will find some mistakes, so please be that kind and tell me about them! You can also add me ingame (Raid Boss Shaco; EUW only) if you have any questions! Good luck in your games!
Thanks to Kappacïno for helping me with this guide.
