Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Such cancer to fight against, he can dash and jump over all of your skillshots if done correctly. Just ban him if he recently got buffed.
Yasuo
His W stops everything minus your ult, can dodge constantly to make hitting him impossible. Try your best to pressure him early before he gets his core item, if you lost lane just shove and roam, you can't fight him.
Zed
Can be a real pain in the ass if he's good. Zed's shadow will always appear BEHIND you whenever he ults, so time your q so that you can burst him when he goes in on you.
Hourglass rush/early stopwatch is recommended.
Katarina
Can be a real pain jumping everywhere, you can most of the time predict where she's gonna jump judging by where her knives land. Use that to your advantage in lane especially by throwing down an E when she blinks to it.
Akali
Her Q damage early levels hurts, so be wary of the range of it. Most of the time you won't be able to get in reliable aa's to proc your passive, so stay back and poke with your e.
Don't blindly throw out your q unless you're either very far back or 100% certain you will land it, otherwise she can jump on you with full confidence and likely kill you.
Ahri
At level 6 she can ult to dodge your skillshots and kill you with a landed charm. Stand behind your minions so she can't just walk up and charm you. Try to always be opposite of where she is relative to your minion wave so that there's always a line of minions in between you and her. Taking cleanse is recommended.
Anivia
She can become a pain, especially when she starts scaling and getting tanky, try to poke her out with e and get your jungler to gank her.
Pre-6, you can shove the wave to her tower since she has trouble farming without her ult.
You can also take cleanse if you're scared of her q stun.
Annie
You outrange her heavily, she usually has to flash in order to reach you for her combo. Keep note of how close she's getting to her stun passive and just poke her out of lane, shouldn't have much trouble with this one.
Aurelion Sol
Skill matchup, he usually goes RoA first so try and poke him out early. He'll most likely roam so try and keep the wave from pushing to your tower so he has less chances of roaming with his E.
Brand
You guys will be poking each other, and whoever lands their cc on the other will kill them. Cleanse is good in this matchup, he has a little less range than you so try and take advantage of that.
Cassiopeia
Stay away from this snake thing, if you're in her range she will kill you. Her DPS is crazy even with only a tear.
Stay back and poke her early game, espeically before she gets tear since she'll run out of mana fast.
Kassadin
Pre-6 he can't do anything to you minus throw is purple ball at you, which you have shield for. You win every trade you take versus him as long as you stay out of his melee range.
Post-6, unless you're ahead in lane, don't fight him. He can and will jump on you given the chance and can dodge your Q while doing it.
Try to end the game before he scales, he is known as the late game monster for a reason.
Zoe
Can be really annoying if she's really good at landing her bubbles, but you can land your skillshots relatively easy against her. It's pretty obvious to tell when she's using her Q for farming, so try and throw out your E when she's going in for farm.
Stand behind minions so you don't get bubbled easily. Cleanse is REALLY NICE versus her.
Xerath
Outranges you, another skill matchup involving both of you pushing the wave. Early boots help with dodging his abilities.
Viktor
Not played very often but is very scary once his hextech core is upgraded. His laser is annoying in lane but you outrange him with your E. Force him to use a movement ability to get to you, his Q + AA combo really hurts, especially if he has Sheen/Lich Bane.
Vel'Koz
One of my favorite mages, he works similarly to you in that he lands his cc and bursts you down. His Q poke can be tricky to dodge, and if he maxes W his wave clear will be better than yours.
Get your jungler to help gank him, as he is very immobile and only has one slower moving hard cc.
Veigar
He's gonna act like you don't exist until he hits 6, then he'll recognize your presence and attempt to burst you. You can usually read his movement to tell when he's about to throw his cage down. If you get put in the baby cage, you can still move around in the little space provided for you, so you can still dodge his abilities.
If it's mid game and he manages to stun you with his cage, unless you have hourglass, you're dead.
Twisted Fate
Easy matchup, you outrange him and waveclear better than him. When he roams with his ult, shove the lane and try to get mid tower.
Ryze
He's a monster in close range, can lock you down with his empowered W, and wave clears better than you.
You won't be able to kill him unless he's braindead, so expect a farm lane.
Hey everyone! I'm Tenebris and welcome to my Lux guide.
I've been playing league off and on since season 1, and I'm a Plat Lux main. I may not be the best lux na, but I have some experience playing lux :)
Hopefully this guide will be able to help you understand how to play Lux better.
