The reason for the 3 Mark of Strengths is because instead of all Mag Pen you can put 3 of the Mark of Strengths.

I think it's best to start off with Doran's Blade so you get your Passive for gaining the extra 10 AD. It is very good to start off the game with your two Passives. I stay in lane a bit till about maybe 3k or I die but I try not to. I get Boots of Swiftness ( You can swap out for any other boots if you like ) Then get my Hextech Revolver. Start to build your Rylais because it is a very good item for Akali. Then get your Guinsoos, followed by finishing your Hextech Gunblade. If the game lasts this long then you can get Lich Bane, Zhonyas Hourglass, Rabadons Deathcap, or whatever you find best.

I go with Flash and Ignite.
Other possible choices can be

Some spells I wouldn't really go for would be

- Clarity - Obviously Akali uses energy not mana
- Heal - Meh
- Revive - I guess it can be good but meh
- Rally - Meh
- Fortify - Again Meh although it would be probably better for someone else to get it
- Smite - Not jungling.
- Clairvoyance - Leave it to another person to use
