Akali's Late-game power will be drastically diminished with this build, as the survivability in this build is somewhat lacking. Zhonya's is a decent touch, but just not quite up-to-par with other late-game survivability tactics such as massive life-steal.

Check my build as a comparison.

The reason that I prefer Hextech is because of her passives, % increased damage based on ability power, but that scales off of your AD, so it gives your auto attacks and passive's scaling a bit more damage. Plus the spell vamp and the increased passive spell vamp from the AD adds up to quite a bit of survivability.

Back to the crit debate, I'm quite certain that unless you have talents, runes, or gear that gives you crit, then taking the crit damage talents is quite wasteful when you could at least finish out the attack speed talents.

As far as Improved Ignite, obviously don't take it if you're not gonna use the summoner spell, but you shouldn't really be in a situation where you will need an escape(flash), for two reasons, you're not an initiator so you won't be charging in head on, you're going to be coming in and cleaning house after the tank/tankies start the fight, and you always have shroud to dip out momentarily. That should be enough to keep you up for the duration of the team fight, if you do get focused just dip into shroud or step back for a moment until they pick on someone else. I would only take flash if I choose to use snowball items because saving the stacks on those is essential. Ignite on the other hand(along with the improved ignite talent) reduces healing done to your teams focus target by 50%(even more helpful now that 9/10 matches have a Sona) provides a DOT and with the talent gives you and additional 10 ability power(12.5 with zonya's). I play extremely aggressively and very seldom do I find myself in situations where I wished that I had an escape other than shroud, you're team should have jungles and river warded so being jumped shouldn't be an issue at all(just have everyone on the team buy 1 ward everytime they recall), you will see them coming from miles off.

If you feel like you need additional magic pen and the team isn't tanky, like Squall said take abyssal sep(although there are other dps/support classes that should already have made it by then). It not only benefits you but also the rest of your team and gives you a lot of MR, enough so you could swap out your boots for the magic pen boots as well.(unless they are a stun happy team)

Edit: I also have yet to vote on this guide so please don't assume I voted it down just because I wrote a guide of my own. I'm just looking for some intelligent debate.

Skyv3r is right, Void Staff should be additional. The Abyssal Scepter gives also AP, huge Mres and it might be that -20Mres is more than -40% Mres.

But that is not important, i wouldnt go for Hextech either. I get Abyssal or Guardian Angel as my 6th Item, Akali does not AD for making Damage.

Her Q-Spell is the main source of her Damage. Q-Spell itself becomes stronger, Lichbane deals huge Damage combined with her passive. The more AP the more % Damage you make with that Q-autohit

Well, Even without crit chance build you have crit chance, so better do 10% more when you do crit. I didn't pick improved ignite because I don't use ignite, I prefer exhaust for killing and flash for escaping. Void staff is always useful to pierce trough opponents magic res, even if it's only the native res plus it gives ability power. I don't pick hextech gunblad because this is way too expensive to get some burst. In this guide, like I said at the beginning, all is about burst, hextech gunblade gives spellvamp wich is useless for my playstyle, our passive's spellvamp is ebough to survive. Finally, stop QQ'ing about other akali guides, trying ot get their score lower when yours really different from mine.

First of all, why do you take the crit damage talents from the offense tree when your build has 0% crit chance, drop those and finish out the attack speed and also pick up imporved ignote. I love to see these guides that people apparently throw together without any forethought. Void staff is also situational, Hextech gunblade is a much better choice if there aren't a lot of high mr characters.

You aren't using your Long Sword for another item, so get Doran's Blade, you have 6+3 AD (from masteries) right now, and spend 1 Rune to get the missing 1 AD.
