Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This is my third build.
My other builds can be found here.
About the build
This is a build for a hybrid Akali to deal loads of burst damage and to be the main hitter on the team. Akali is a very squishy champ so I tend to get alot of health for her and put my points in defence. Akali is meant to be a mobile ninja assassin so that is how I am going to present this build.
Twin Disciplines (passive)
Upon obtaining 20 additional ability power, Akali's hits deal 10% bonus magic damage, increasing by 1% for every 5 ability power gained thereafter. Upon obtaining 10 additional attack damage, Akali gains 10% Spell Vamp, increasing by an additional 1% for every 10 attack damage gained thereafter.
-Amazing passive and we'll try to get both as soon as possible. Some builds get both right off the bat but I believe that the health and lifesteal from Doran's blade is more useful at the start of the game for Akali than the extra damage from her other passive.
Mark of the Assassin
Akali spins her kama at a target enemy to deal 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+40% of ability power) magic damage and mark the target for 6 seconds. Akali's melee attacks against a marked target will trigger and consume the mark to cause 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+40% of ability power) magic damage and restore 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 energy.
Cost 60 mana | Range 600
-Akali's main damage attack. Constantly use this against the other team. And hit them afterwards whenever you get the chance to do the most damage. This with your ult is devastatingly dangerous. We will lvl this up first to get the most out of Akali.
Akali throws down a cover of smoke that lasts for 8 / 8 / 8 / 8 / 8 seconds. While inside the area, Akali gains 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 armor and magic resist and becomes stealthed. Attacking or using abilities will briefly reveal her. Enemies inside the smoke have their movement speed reduced by 14 / 18 / 22 / 26 / 30%.
Cost 80 / 75 / 70 / 65 / 60 mana | Range 700
-This is an amazing defensive ability. Not only does it hide you while you don't attack, it slows down the enemies inside it and also raises your defense. Be careful though. You are not invincible in your shroud. Attacks like Ashe's Volley, or Yi's Alpha strike that don't need to lock onto you can still hit you. Just one point in this skill is enough early game.
Akali flourishes her kamas, hitting nearby units for 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 physical damage (+30% of ability power) + 60% Attack Damage.
Cost 60 mana | Range 325
-Great move for farming groups of creeps or for attacking your enemies. It takes damage from both your ability power and attack damage so is very strong and will be our next ability to lvl up.
Shadow Dance (Ultimate)
Akali moves through shadows to quickly strike her target, dealing 100 / 175 / 250 (+50% of ability power) magic damage. Akali stores an Essence of Shadow on kills and assists as well as every 25 / 20 / 15 seconds up to 3 total.
Cost 1 mana | Range 800
- This is Akali's best skill. Unlike other ultimates, this one can be used up to three times and recharges every 15 seconds or after a kill or assist. This attack is what gets you the kills. It is great for catching up to any hero and doing quite a bit of damage as well as slowing them after you get your Rylai's Scepter.
Warning you can only use it on enemy champions or enemy minions not your own like Kat's Shunpo so it is not used for escape unless there are enemy minions you can escape to. But that is what we have your shroud for and your boots of mobility.
Buy a Doran's Blade and a health pot to start. It is the best item in my opinion to start with Akali because with your +6 from your Doran's Blade, +4 damage from your runes you will have spell vamp from your passive and extra health and life steal.
*Don't sell Doran's Blade before you buy Guinsoo's Rageblade or you will lose the buff of spell vamp.
When you end up going back to town get at least your first boots and an Amplifying Tomb and Mobility boots if you can afford it. With this at lvl 6 you should be a force to be reckoned with. (If you find that mobility boots aren't your style you should get boots of swiftness instead because Akali is kinda slow). Next get a Giants belt and turn it into a Rylai's Scepter for some more health and amazing slow. After you get Rylai's Scepter you can out run/out slow and hero except maybe Yi but you can still even catch up to Yi with your ult.
To do some amazingly strong damage your next item will be a Lich Bane. This item ROCKS for Akali. I know what some people say: "But she doesn't have mana!". I'll tell you that if your against an Akali with a Lich Bane, you don't stand a chance.
Next to help push and do even more damage, get a Guinsoo's Rageblade. I tried to skip this item in a few games and I found that I just wasn't able to push or hit as hard. I think it is a good item to have for Akali. After that get a Hextech Gunblade for some more lifesteal and spellvamp. This item pretty much makes it so that you cant die. At this point you should hit so hard and fast that your health will remain very high. Careful you don't get too cocky though. An Akali who is stunned or silenced and focused can still go down very fast even with all these items. Stay in the shadows and wait for your chance.
By this time the game is usually over but if you are still going I would maybe get a defensive item like Guardian Angel or a Zhonya's Ring for even more damage.
I go with Flash for escapes or to give you that extra boost for your ult to kill someone and Ignite to help you kill a heavy hitter or someone low on health running away. I believe that these are the best summoner spells for Akali but you could also use ghost or exhaust or something like that. With Flash plus mobility boots no one will be able to catch you and with Ignite no one will be being too pushy towards you.
Akali is great in any lane. I like to go mid to be able to help the other lanes faster and to build my Rylai's faster. Things to note. Akali is bad against tanky champions early game like Mordekaiser or Sion. If Mordekaiser goes mid I usually stay defensive near my tower or switch lane with someone who is ranged. I usually just stay in my Shroud and throw a mark of the assassin at an enemy and hit them if they get close and just farm.
Once you get to lvl 6 and have your mobility boots and Amplifying Tomb you will be able to kill almost anyone. You can gank other lanes if you have the chance but you should wait till about lvl 8 and have your Giants belt to have more health.
Akali is great after she gets her ult at killing heroes. Wait till you have 2 or 3 essence of shadows on your ult before you can attack to make sure that you can kill them. Akali will regain one essence of shadow after a kill or assist so don't worry about using them all up to get a kill.
You should be lvl 9 or 10 by now and have your Rylai's and should be constantly switching lanes to help out and gank the other team. Akali is great at ganking with her ult and with the Rylai's you will slow anyone you mark or ult and they won't be able to get away. After this you should be getting your Lich Bane and by then you will be doing loads of damage. The other team won't even know what hit them.
By this time you should have your Lich Bane and your Guinsoo's and working on your Hextech Gunblade. Once you have your Guinsoo's Rageblade you will be able to push lanes and towers really fast. You will also be able to rip apart the other teams squishies and help take down the remaining heroes and push. Make sure you don't initiate in team fights. Akali is squishy and can die easily if caught out in the open.
-With Akali you should be constantly throwing Marks at the enemies while farming and last hitting creeps. If there is a bunch of creeps, throw down your shroud and go in and farm. You will turn invisible after each hit so you will be safe.
-The real damage from Akali comes from hitting the enemy after you throw a mark at them so if they are stupid enough to come close, mark them, hit them, then run back.
-Going for the kill combo: Mark them, hit them if they are close if not ult to them, hit them, use crescent slash near them and repeat.
-If there are multiple enemies or they are stronger than you and you think you need cover, throw your shroud where they are and then mark them and ult to them. You will turn invisible after you hit them and will be able to repeat without taking as much damage.
-Thing to note is that Akali does not auto attack while in her shroud so you will have to constantly click them to hit them. This is so that you will not attack without you wanting to and turn visible again.
Akali is one of my favorite champions and I've had many successful and very high scoring games with her. I hope this guide will come in handy and as always I would like feedback on what you think of my guide and how I can make it better. Thank you.
