I started looking at other guides as I began playing Akali, intending her to be my sub-main (main is Evelynn) but as I began playing and creating a build of my own, I am debating making her my new main.

I start with the both masteries, the runes give barely enough but still give both, but also some room for slight defensiveness. Also 3 potions to make it easier and stay in the lane. If lucky enough to get a kill, preferably first blood, I go back and get my swiftness asap. I get a Hextech Revolver next, the extra spell vamp comes in handy as Akali is squishy. From here, if I'm already having a good start it's GG, I'll go back to grab as sheen. The mark - ulti - basic attack (hopefully a crit)- crescent - repeat combo (The rotation I use) has insane burst damage. I build the Sheen into a Trinity Force as soon as I can. I go back and finish the Hextech Gunblade for more damage, life steal, and even more spell vamp since Akali's physical attack adds that. Provided the game lasts longer than this, I grab a Black Cleaver for some armor pen, and then an infinity edge. I like playing Akali a bit more melee than others, as her one passive give her auto attacks a % bonus magic damage based on her physical damage dealt. The % might be less on an AD akali, but the criticals double that. I never make it far enough to get my Phantom Dancer, unless the enemy team is too stupid to surrender. If you can do all of this in a 5 v 5, you can destroy their entire team if your skilled enough.
