So this is my first "Tank" guide. Still, this is the way i'm used to play amumu. I know there is 7 items, BUT you definately should sell the dorans shield later on. Also you cant take a GA(guardian angel) instead of the Banshees Veil.

Summoner Spells

At summoner spells i picked Ignite and Ghost. Ghost is a really nice skill, and combined with your boots of switness it is going to let you escape from many situations. i also picked the Ignite, just so you had some offensive too.
Thr ignite CAN be replaced by some other spells like Flash, Exhaust and Fortify.
You can go with both flash and ghost if you want alot of escape oppertunities but i wouldn't reccomend it.



Abilities


Cursed Touch(passive)
Amumu's attacks reduce the target's magic resistance by 20/30/40 for 5 seconds.

A decent passive, still its just a passive.

Bandage Toss
Throws a bandage to target location. If it hits an enemy unit, Amumu will pull himself to the enemy, stun them, and deal 80 / 140 / 200 / 260 / 320 (+100% of ability power) magic damage.

Cooldown 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 seconds | Cost 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 mana | Range 25000


This is a really good skillshot. Not only can you get fast to your enemy, but you will also stun them. Also great for escaping if you are getting chased. (Only use it if it is a melee champion, or the enemy is close to you. You can use this skillshot to kite people too. Also great for initiating teamfight.

Despair
Toggle: Nearby enemies take 8 / 12 / 16 / 20 / 24 magic damage plus 1.5 / 1.8 / 2.1 / 2.4 / 2.7 (+1% of ability power)% of their maximum health each second.

Cooldown 1 seconds | Cost 10 mana per second | Range 300


A really good ability against dragon, baron and generally enemies. IMPORTANT: If you chase an enemy DON'T auto-attack them as it will give them a bigger chance of getting away. Just run beside them with this skill on. (And of course use your bandage toss when its on). Also great against other tanks too. Note: This can and will eat up your mana, if kept on.

Tantrum
Passive: Amumu takes 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 reduced damage from physical attacks.

Active: Amumu deals 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 / 175 (+50% of ability power) magic damage to surrounding units. Each time Amumu is hit, the cooldown on Tantrum is reduced by 0.5 seconds.

Cooldown 21 / 18 / 15 / 12 / 9 seconds | Cost 50 mana | Range 400


Tantrum is the bread and butter for amumu. If you are in a teamfight, SPAM IT!
This is the skill for amumu. Also a nice passive (5 reduced damage from physical????).


Curse of the Sad Mummy
Amumu entangles surrounding enemy units, causing them to be unable to attack or move for 2.5 seconds, dealing 50 / 100 / 150 (+35% of ability power) magic damage to them each second.Cooldown 170 / 150 / 130 seconds | Cost 100 / 150 / 200 mana | Range 600

This ultimate is very unique, yes it is kinda the same as galio's ulti, just wider. This is still a great ultimate. Use it to initiate teamfights, stop fleeing enemies from running, saving your own, and teammates lives.

Play style

Early game
In the early game you should constantly farm, you can't get enough gold and using tantrum to lasthit creeps isn't a bad way of doing it. You will probaly have some MP problems with this build, but i can asure you that you won't need it in late game. There is a mana buff and you should be able to get it some times (despair works wonders against jungle creeps).

Mid game
You should be the one to initiate ganks with your bandage toss, and curse of the sad mummy. You will be a great gank "helper". You are not going to be the one who deals alot of damage to the enemies. Also, go for the blue buff when you can as you need some mana regen. If you have a mage on your team, you may wan't to save it for them, as they probaly need it more than you, still if they are not around feel free to take it yourself. Remember: when you aren't trying to gank people, or going for the blue buff, just farm. Everyone can use some exstra gold, specially a tank.

Late game
In the late game you are going to be the one to initiate teamfights. You are gonna get a hell lot of assists. You are also going to be a good tank as you should often target their primary damage dealer with bandage toss to keep them away from your teammates.
