Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Anivia: The Cryphoenix
Anivia is one of the most powerful champions in the game with a result of being on of the squishiest. She has huge damage output where most of her abilities are AoE, but she has some of the lowest durability in the game when it comes to health, armor, magic resistance, and movement speed. She has one of the best innates in the game as if her egg can survive 6 seconds after death, she is gloriously reborn with the amount of health that remains.
To begin the the game, go right to mid as Anivia is one of the best mid champions in the game. She can easily harass opponents with the huge range of her flash frost and she can take out a swarm of minions in about 2 seconds with glacial storm.
Once minions spawn, sit back and attack the enemy minions while harassing your opponent every opportunity you get. Use flash frost and have it go through the enemy, and as soon it passes through them (ASAP) hit flash frost again to detonate it for a small stun and cause additional damage. Once you get frostbite, you will be soon smelling first blood. Use your flash frost ad once it passes them detonate it. This cause about double damage and while they are stunned use frostbite. Frostbite is a very good follow up because it also does double damage if the enemy has a frost effect on them (From flash frost).
Towards end game, you want to utilize all her abilities. Lure them close to you and throw down a glacial storm. As soon as you do this, use the flash frost and frostbite combo while the enemy is in the storm. After this is done, use the acitve from your deathfire's grasp while they are slowly trying to escape. At this point, if they are not dead they have taken a huge amount of damage. After the stun is over and if they are alive, use crystallize to block their exit of the glacial storm so they take even more damage before getting out of it.
The reason for the item build, runes, and masteries is very simple. Archangel staff is perfect due to giving huge man regen per second, ability power, additional mana per spell cast, and it converts a percentage of your mana pool into ability power which is huge due to her large mana pool. Boots are obvious for her slow movement speed, and to destroy any magic resistance the enemy has. deathfire's Grasp is a very good item because you can use its active feature and deal a huge percent of their health while they are in the glacial storm. Along with this, it gives you wonderful ability power, mana regeneration, and cooldown reductions. After this the void staff is excellent because it is relatively cheap, has large ability power, and has a large amount of magic penetration. Abyssal Sceptor is wonderful for the 70 ability power and even more magic penetration. Guardian angel is excellent for Anivia's innate ability and low durability. It gives her large amounts of armor and magic resistance, and if she dies, she is revived with 40% of her health and mana. If she dies again, then her innate kicks in and is reborn with how much health remains after six seconds. The last item is for those really long games where both teams are stuck pushing and there are deaths left and right on both teams. The ring gives you a huge 120 ability power boost. On top of that it increases your max ability power stat by 25%. Now Anivia is even stronger than ever. I would have gotten it earlier but it is so expensive and now with it at the end, you utilize the 25% extra ability power even more.
Runes are simple. Marks have the best magic penetration for their money as do glyphs. I do not invest in anything else because it is on such a minuscule scale, so and extra 10 ability power in 5000 IP worth of runes is not Necessary. Besides, most enemy champions do not invest in magic resistance, so the little magic resistance they had is completely gone after this build. Seals and Quintessences are dodge chance because once again, and extra 200 health or 20 armour is not worth 5000 IP, so with these dodge runes, you add well over 15% dodge chance, which could be the difference between life or death vs 200 h which is gone with one melee attack.
Masteries are done so that you get the magic penetration for offense, mana regeneration for utility, and the rest of the offensive and defensive ones are useless for her so I invest it in a little extra armor and magic resistance form the defensive side.
Summoner spells are because she is one of few characters that needs clarity even end game due to her huge mana vacuum, and teleport is a must on Summoner's Rift.
It says she only has 295 ability power but it is almost 400 after the unique passive of the ring.
I hope you like this build. it makes her a great DPS champions with huge AoE, and I've scored multiple quadra kills with this build.
