Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hello all, my name is MrEvolution and this is an in-depth guide of how i like to play Amumu along with a few hints and tips about how to play better with him.
I have to admit i've only really played a few games with him. But to me, he feels to me like one of them champions that you clan just play well from the first time playing with him. Because he's such an amazing character. I just love everything about him.
I'm making this guide because i want to share my ideas and my builds with the League of Legends Community. Help all the people that are looking for it. But atleast read thought it a little and maybe even give it a try.
The rune setup i choose is:
Magic Penetration Red Marks x9
Mana Regen Per 5 Yellow Marks x9
Cooldown Reduction Blue Markes x9
Magic Penetration Quintessences x3
I use the Magic Penetrate because it generates more damage. Also can be alot more useful.
I use Mana Regen Per 5 will help you lane alot longer. Amumu has huge problems with Mana so these runes will help a hell of alot.
I use Cooldown Reduction simply because the lower my cooldowns the more i can use my abilities. Will help me kill people quicker.
There is not much to this anyway. It's all down to what you like best. This is what i like. The utility tree. Helps me farm alot more and have some survivability. While making me a good asset to any team.
Boots of Mobility: I prefer the Boot's of Mobility. Most people wouldn't but i like to have the edge of being able to move from lane to lane very quickly without wasting much time, they are also very useful to get to a team fight very quickly. These can also be replaced by Mercury's Treads or Boots of Swiftness.
Rod of Ages: I like this item because it gives you that extra bit of survivability. With the extra Health and Mana it enables you to stay alive and stay in lane that little bit longer.
Rabadon's Deathcap: Not much to say about this item. Apart from it's amazing and increases your damage by a hell of alot. One of my favourite AP item's. I mean it's expensive. But if your getting lots of kills then investing a large amount of money into this item will just guarentee you even more kills.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter: I exchanged this item for Void Staff. Has a very good amount of damage and will increase your survivability alot. A very useful item. After it got mentioned in the comments i went back and re-looked over having a Rylai's Crystal Scepter instead of Void Staff. I mean we have Magic Penetration anyway. Too much of it will just eventually be no use.
Sunfire Cape: Now i went with this item because it gives me that little bit of an edge when stood in the middle of an enemy group. Now combine Despair with a Sunfire cape is just great.
Force of Nature: Now because i have way enough damage. I thought for my last item i would get a item that's going to help me survive alot more. The Health Regen from this item is just amazing. When you're moving to another enemy after you've just ganked someone it will health a nice percentage of health so you don't have to keep going back. Also comes with a good amount of Magic Resist, which will improve your survivability as well. This item also gives you a very nice amount of movement speed.
I think that sums up why i choose these items. Some can be swapped around a little if needed. It all depends on what you need at the time. Not what the build's telling you to get. Build just gives you and idea of what would be a good idea to buy.
Skill sequence is quite easy to be honest.
Firstly you may want to level up Bandage Toss. You will be using this skill to engage in a fight with the enemy. Its also one of the best of Amumu's damage skills.
Secondly your Tantrum is just another damage skill. Low cooldown and quite effective especially when level 5. Dont forget it's only got a short range.
Thirdly you will only need Despair as a constant damage skill. Works well along with Sunfire cape. Get a point in this at level 3. Then another one after you've leveled Bandage Toss and Tantrum a few more times. Then the final few towards the end.
Finally your ultimate. This need's to be leveled as soon as it's available to get it. It is your AOE stun. Does a ton of damage if you jump into the middle of four to five of the enemy team. After that your constant damage from your Despair and Sunfire Cape will drop them a little more and all at the same time, your team jumps in and finishes off then entire team. I think it's quite a plan and that makes it fun for me. They cant run and they cant attack so they cant do nothing about it.
These are the summoner skills and why i use them.
Flash: Useful for escaping over walls. Also good for unexpectedly getting there team from a bush. Flash and Ghost is my combo. Then stun and half there team is dead. :D
Ghost: Very good escape tool. Will improve survivability and give you the ability to get to another place very quickly. Combined with the movement speed you have from Boots of Mobility and your Force of Nature.
There's also a few other summoner spells which are very useful.
Exhaust: Can help you get a definite kill on an enemy opponent. It can also be used as an escape tool if really needed.
Cleanse: Could keep you alive if your trying to get away or in a team fight to get you out of a stun quickly.
Placing wards are essential to working as a team. If know when the enemy team is creeping into your jungle it will help your team. Will also give you alot more map control. Will stop you from getting ganked.
Remember to stick together and assist your team while they are trying to engage in a good strong team fight against the enemy. No point in you being at the other end of the map then your team is fighting in middle. They are one player short then. Its just like giving the enemy free kills if they jump on the rest of your team.
Remember you have to play a little bit aggressive. Especially when Amumu get's his ultimate. It will destroy people. Do not over extend though as in push too far. They may try and set a gank up on you which could ensure them free kills. If you place your wards correctly that could help prevent being ganked when being aggressive.
Dont forget to communicate with you team, remember to call as soon as a person goes missing from your lane etc. Communication is the key to success.
Think that sums up about everything i would like to talk about in this build. I hope you decide to give this build a try and i hope that it's extremely useful to everyone that's read it.
Please thumbs up if you liked and would like to hear more guides from myself. If you have any requests for any guides you like to see then please message me.
Any positive feedback would be appreciated. :D
