I don't agree that AP is terrible, just not situational. He shouldn't be a caster you have other people for that. Malphite is a second-rate ap caster. While it is beneficial to get AP to deal more damage but you are the initiator. You have an ult that can only be used every 100 seconds (which is long compared to others) and if you don't go tank then you are gonna get shredded because, again, you are the initiator.

Ive tried a few build similar to this one on malphite before and I've never had much success... It works for you though? Also about malphite not doing enough damage. at level 3 hes ult hits for 400. if you get a normal amount of armor(including the stuf you get from brutal strikes) that will be hitting for about 450 or so. Thats a lot of damage. Plus toss your seismic shard in there and you have a significant amount. Sure you are no viegar with the amount of damage you are doing but you aren't supposed to be. The reason you get focused in this build is because you don't have enough tankieness not because you are too big of a threat to ignore. The only ap item useful on Malphite if Rylai's and thats just for the health and the slow.

To be a good tank you need to get focused. If you dont get focused you are just a rock walking around doing nothing after you spend your ultimate. If I wanted a pure tank I would go for other chars wich can taunt like Rammus or have more decisive ultimates like Amumu.

This builds is more "Hybrid" oriented, It's certainly not Pure AP. Overall i think it's the way malphite is meant to be played.

It might be boring but its the way to play him. There are tanks that can be played Ap. Such as Cho'gath, Taric, Amumu but not Malphite hes just a tank that shouldnt ever go Ap because Malphite doesnt need to rely on Ap. So AP For Malphite is terrible not in general.

You are one of the best tanks in game but if you just stack armor it's the most boring champ also, and you wont get much protection except from basic atacks. If you dont cause damage your enemies (if they are clever) will just ignore you and you wont even be a good tank anymore cause you are not getting focused. Besides, you obviously not played this build. A more constructive commentary than just "AP IS TERRIBLE!" would be nice.

You should never go Ap with Him. Malphite is a tank that is best skill is based of a percentage of his armor. All you have to do is stack armor and maybe a banshees veil for health and you are golden one of the best tanks in the game. I do not like this build not very good. AP IS TERRIBLE.
