Hi I'm an AP Varus player and I'd like to show you how to play him effectively.

Runes are simple. You can put in ap quints but I pref attack speed. Hybrid pen marks are ok but straight mpen is better.

21-9-0. Make sure you have my set up because I honestly believe these are the masteries you should have.

You can read the notes but ill also say it here. Go boots first. Dorans ring is ok for the ap and extra hp but I like the mobility of boots and pots. Get Nashors asap because the cdr, attack speed, and passive are all things AP Varus wants. Oh and they ap is good too I guess. Runanns is ok but you give up A LOT of 1v1 potential. With the deathcap you do so much more dmg but if you have an amumu it may be worth but deathcap Varus will still do well there. The Void is amazing because it helps do more %hp dmg on your w and that's always good. Ludens and Zhonyas are mainly for the ap but their passives help in poking and staying alive.

Max w first then e. W scales with ap and the other 2 don't. Get ult everytime you can. It do dmg.

W and Ult are your bread and butter because well they're the only skills that scale with ap. Make sure you get 3 hits on someone before procing the w passive with another skill. If you can pop all 3 w marks with your ult, get ready for some dmg.

TL;DR Max w, get 3 hits, proc w, follow the build, do dmg and win the game.

I use it in ranked because nobody thinks it's viable so you may get some **** from your team. A lot of people forget that his ult spreads so you may get kills off idiots being idiots.

CS all day, don't bait by using yourself as bait for your jungler. If you die you missing out on cs. Cs means gold, gold means items, items means dmg, dmg means WINS! So just farm up early game.

Stay in the back, you're not the engage. Your ult is for dmg and keeping anybody who can jack you up away.

A small mechanic. If you have Nashors, when you e at 2 w procs you have time to get in another auto before it lands.
