This is my first ever guide so please be gentle with it and leave constructive criticism.
for runes i put all armor runes for marks, Armor seals, magic resist glyphs, and + 1 gold quientessents. the armor helps sona lane against the most common laning ad Carries and other melee and physical damage champs. the gold quints help to stack with my items to get my build done quick
for runes i take 0 9 and 21. this is somewhat i find to be the best because it helps sona stay in game even when isnt doing much other than assisting kills. also the start up of +40 gold also helps cuz i can start my build with slightly more expensive items
i start off with regrowth pendant then build philo stone. next is heart of gold, then boots of lucidity. i then go for blasting wand and sheen to build into lich bane and then build rabadons. next is raduins and then lastly sell the philo stone for warmogs.
explanation: philo stone and heart of Gold for gold. boots of lucidity cool downs, especially her ult. then i build lich bane because it stacks with her passive adding even more damage to her basics. With rabadons the lich bane becomes super effective with the added AP. the aegis of legion for the increased aura boosts. raduins for armor and health along with its passive to slow attacks speeds in the middle of team fights. and the warmogs to make sona tank.
Reasons: I build sona support tank items for the gold and to bluff that im going support because then they stop attacking me because they beleive they dont need to attack me so instead i attack them as they are focusing my lane partner thus giving sona a kill or an assist. Then mid game at like lvl 10-14 i build AP to actually start doing more damage to champs and get kills or wither opponents and flash out to ult them and have my team finish it. I also become a pusher of turrets because of lich bane with my rabadons and my passive so i end up doing 500 damage on turrets. late game i start to build tank because now the opposite team realises that my Sona is an actual threat and start to focus her. this is good because now the team will be killing a support instead of the AD carry or mid champ. also the tank build allows for sona to literally tank and back door turrets like crazy. i have actually won once simply because my sona destroyed every turret while back dooring and the team did not see it coming.
In short My sona changes with the battle phases support beginning, AP mid game, and then tank late game
I take flash and heal because as sona u will need the heal to maximize healing potential and the flash is to reposition your self from danger or a team fight and either run or ult back in/
Creeping / Jungling
sona does not need cs... that being said however stealing one every so often can only increase ur sona goodness. as for jungling sona doesnt jungle she mearly kills the jungle monsters sometimes for gold and blue buff
Basically my Sona has recked some teams simply because they did not expect my sona to be the one doing the killing i've gone 16/1/23 once and got a quadra simply because the other team even told me that They didnt realise that sona could actually kill!!
