Blitzcrank is my favorite Support to play as, but he needs a strong AD carry with him. Naturally, you want to buy a lot of wards and be good at skill shots, but there are many things you need to know in order to play him right. First off, Blitzcrank needs some AD, but he needs AP to make sure is abilities (which is what he's used for) are at their best. I build him tanky too, using Rod of Ages and Aegis of Legion. Every support should have an aura for their teammates so that's why I rush the Frozen Heart (also for the Cooldown Reduc). I get more CDR with the Nashor's Tooth, which also gives me even more ability power! I love this build. Please try it sometime :)

I use Flash for an easy getaway, and Exhaust to stop enemies. Flash is great to get out of a tough situation, and Exhaust is very useful too. IMPORTANT: I like to combo my Rocket Grab, Power Fist, and then I Exhaust them as they run off. Or just Exhaust after you pull them under your turret.

I build Blitzcrank as an AP tank with a lot of Armor, Cool-Down Reduction, and Magic Resist. When playing Support on bottom as Blitzcrank, I start out with the Sapphire Crystal for the Health pots to keep me alive in the beginning. Purchase wards occasionally and place them in bush near Dragon to prevent ganks; along with the bushes in your lane. Finish your Catalyst, and situationally purchase either Mercury Tread's, Sorcerer's Shoes, or Ninja Tabi. Because Blitzcrank's abilities deal magic damage, I finish my Rod of Ages next. Blitz needs Mana, Armor, and Cool-Down Reduction, so I get Frozen Heart next. Plus, it provides a helpful aura for teammates, which is ideal for a support. If there is a fed AD carry on their team, buy an Aegis of Legion now; if it is a fed AP carry, I recommend a Force of Nature. Both of these should be in your complete build anyway. Your 5th item should be a Nashor's Tooth, which improves Attack Speed and Ability power. Congrats! You are a successful AP support Tank, treat your AD carry well!

Start with Rocket Grab, then get Power Fist and Overdrive. Repeat E and W, only stopping for your Ult until they are maxed. Then build your Rocket Grab, only stopping for the Ult. Rocket Grab doesn't need to be built immediately because its main purpose is the pull and not the damage it deals.

I build them 19/14/7 focusing on mana and defense. It works well.
