This might seem a silly question but I'm curious to know why build #1 (the supposedly AP heavy build) have less AP than build #3 by a substantial margin?

Otherwise, thanks for the great guide.

Edit: also, your masteries seem a bit out. Some have more points in them than allowable (3 points in Butcher and Sage).

I am divided between up and down, so I will not vote. On the good side a well written guide, open minded and thoughtful. On the other way... a single thing for what I would vote instant negative: Archangel's stacking

- Archangel's Staff
Do you like power!?!? If you want to maximize your damage output and get the most damage probably possible with Brand, ever* I think, build another two of these. Get them to 1000 mana, and it's gold.

UNIQUE Passive: Means it does not stack, you only get this bonus once. It is basic knowledge. Good guide otherwise.

Hey, great guide. I used it, and got a lot better with Brand. I must say though, after reading your guide. I've found other similar builds pretty much as mentioned. I disagree though with the Sear and the Pillar being "OK". But, it's your opinion, i've used it to gank so many people, or just surprise attack them. It doesn't kill them, but keeps them off the lane for a long period of time.

But doing this, I go for Pillar first, and then Sear at level 2, and keep going until I can get his ultimate. But, do keep in mind im not forgeting conflagration. I replaced that actually with Summoner Spell "Ignite" amd don't get Conflagration till later.

Forgot to mention, this isn't soloing a lane either.

I've been having a great amount of success, and thanks again for making a great guide.

Thanks a lot man, really helped me :) I read your guide and after destroying I went and tried making my own build for how I go about my games, still updating it.

Thanks for the upvote, and thanks for the comment. I know, I always use to buy the elixir myself, it's highly useful and probably underestimated. I barely see any AP casters with it in normal games these days. It's an incredible boost for sure.

I approve of the elixers of brilliance. They are one of the most overlooked items in this game for casters. 10% CDR and 40 AP for 250 gold is CRAZY! This coupled with blue buff is more than enough to reach max CDR. (which is also why I do not use CDR items for most of my AP carries) +1 to you sir.

What? Dude, in both build #3 and the optional/situational items section there's this. Please don't downvote just because it's not in build 1?

I don't know if you ever noticed there is three different builds there, for three different playstyles? Jeesus man.

You need to start with an RoA or you have no survivability. 2 Doran's Rings don't do it. You'll just get focused and shut down.

Thanks guys :)

Really good stuff.

Although, I prefere to get +1 boots after ur first dorans and then another dorans and tear, then get sorc shoes.

Overall, Nice job +1

Yeah, the cheat sheet is just my personal preference. As I usually manage to get a few kills really early on (around level 4 is when Brand really can start kicking butt), I choose Tear of the Goddess first for two reasons: 1. Mana regen/Mana boost, 2. It needs to be filled up. Although reason 2 isn't too much of a difference, getting the +1 boots before is just great.

When I go back to base I usually grab woth Tear of the Goddess AND Boots at the same time. +1 boots isn't too much of a cost, and therefore if you could manage to save up 1350 gold, it's great anyway ;)

But, as I staded a lot of times; personal preference.
