Items
If a have a realy strong burst ap caster(Annie, LeBlanc, etc.) i buy the Negatron Cloak at first and then Hextech Revolver.
The rest is like the Item purchases.
Runes
Its easy to stack your Ap over 600-700 with Kennen but without magic penetration marks you had a realy weak late game, without life seal's you got a weak early game and without AP glyph's you got a weak(er) game the whole match long.
"But why you take Quintessence of Swiftness???"
Now, i think Kennen is a realy slow champ without the E-spell and so you have a little advantage against carry's in the mid.
Masteries
I play him as a real god Ap-Dmg outputter and the utility skill's for more experience give you an great advantage in mid.
