Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
When I first started playing League of Legends, Anivia immediately caught my eye. I've always been interested in playing a spellcaster, and Anivia is most definitely one of the most feared casters out there with an extreme arsenal of stuns, slows, and walls.
In most lore, the phoenix is a creature of fire that rises from its own ashes. What few know, however, is that phoenixes are elemental beings, formed by the eternal essences of their native world. Anivia was conceived on a world such as this - a being of the coldest winter, a creature of pure elemental ice. On her world, Anivia was the protector of the frozen wastes and all those with the spirit to endure in such unforgiving places. She was consulted as a creature of great wisdom, one who could not die and who had seen the world renewed several times. Somehow, Anivia knew that the day would come when she would be plucked from her home and pulled across worlds, and when that day came, she received the call with grace. Seeing the imbalance and injustice on Runeterra, a world lacking elemental protectors, Anivia took her place at the League of Legends.
Since her arrival, the Cryophoenix has chosen to live among the highest peaks of the Northern Ironspike Mountains, adjacent to the frozen wastes of Freljord. She has openly claimed this territory as own protectorate. Surprisingly, Anivia has struck up a friendship with the yeti of this region - a friendship that grows deeper and deeper with each passing moon. She has formed a close bond with two League champions: Nunu (and Willump) and the nomad princess Ashe. In a move that caught the League by surprise, the Cryophoenix recently entreated the summoners of the Institute of War to research a means in bringing across others of her elemental fellows. As a champion, Anivia is revered with a sense of awe by most, but is not the most popular as most consider her unapproachable.
Some say the world will end in fire, some in ice. Anivia awaits the inevitable latter.
FF - Flash Frost
Wall - Crystalize
FB - Frostbite
GS - Glacial Storm
As stated above, Anivia is one of the most potent spellcasters in the game. She has extreme nuke abilities as well as amazing CC abilities through FF and Wall.
FF is Anivia's initiating stun ability. Excellent harassing tool early game, as well as being the initiator for her nuke combination.
Wall is an excellent tool to trap enemies in GS, set up for a guaranteed FF, or escape enemies chasing you. It take a lot of practice to master this, so don't get frustrated if you mess up the first few times.
FB is Anivia's nuke. When her target is chilled, the damage is doubled. And this move already does a significant amount of damage.
GS is Anivia's ultimate. Huge mana drain, but deals an insane amount of damage in a large area and puts chill on all affected enemies. I also use GS as an initiator in certain situations.
Most people won't argue with you when you want to play solo lane, which you should. Anivia is one of the strongest mid lane champions in the game. Last hit minions as much as possible and avoid using spells unless you want to begin harassing your enemy champion, which you should start at level 3. Unless you are facing a Heimer or Morde in mid, you should have little to no problem getting early kill, if not first blood. If your egg timer is up, feel free to be as aggressive (although you should avoid turret diving).
Hopefully you have Soulstealer with at least 2 stacks at this point, so get with your tank and begin ganking lanes. Continue to kill minions when all your spells are on cooldown, and be sure you claim the golem buff as soon as possible, as this will allow you to GS spam.
If you have done everything you can to get the kills, you should have no problem nuking any champion in the game aside from of course tanks and high hp carries. Continue to harass with FF and trap your opponents one at a time with Wall and FF. Keep all your spells handy and use ignite on the champions that are just outside your damage threshold. Anivia is extremely reliant on her team late game, so never be alone.
