I personally don't believe that focusing on defensive approaches is the most effective when it comes to Darius, also in terms of masteries. Sure, it can work to a degree for some, but as I stated in my guide, one needs to bend the build (masteries included) more towards the offensive side than the defensive one in order to fully benefit from Darius' kit. This is also true for the gameplay itself, but with smart plays of course. I think that 21/9 is the strongest for Darius because you boost all aspects of damage, which as I mentioned makes the difference between a Darius and a Dariusaurus. What I'm really saying is that Darius is highly dependant on it. With Darius being a natural executioner with his ultimate and passive, Executioner was basically made for Darius as it makes it even easier for you to do what you do best - killing enemies with low HP through all means. The butter on the bread continues as we look on Warlord , Devastating Strikes and Havoc , increasing bonus Attack Damage by 5%, giving us 6% Armor Penetration and +3% increased damage. Everything that is scary about you is strengthened from the start and even further throughout the game, also applying to your passive and ultimate that also benefits so greatly from this that I would not compromise it for anything, but that is just me.

Try to use 9/12 masteries, that's awesome because of the talent Second Wind that have a strong sinergy with the Q of Darius and que talent Opression that can be proc by bolt W and E, moreover the Perseverance + Q make lot harder to harass you until death and Legendary Guardian gives you some easy pentas :P
